i was wondering how sd did that tank tracksin the snow ting on fueldump.

also if i was to make a dense forest of trees using automatic tree generation would that slow down the frame rate to much thanks.

oh and how should i make roads, cause i notice there is a texture called snow_road that has both the snow and the road texture, but it wasnt made as part of a texture blend.

edit: another question, does anyone now where i can get high res DEM data for france or sicily? it would help me create a good height map.

Yes it would…as you might’ve seen in radar. To get a better idea of the complexity of the SD trees load up your map with lots of trees in it and then open the console and try the /r_showtris 1 and /r_speeds 1 comands to see the triangles being drawn and your perfromance. If you are going to make a dense forest you need to do one of two things, either use the SD trees and put a heavy heavy fog to the map. The other would be to either find a prefab or make yourself a tree that’s much more efficient, but that won’t look as good

The above thread should help you some…if you need more help search this forum for decals and that should help steer you in the right direction.

I don’t know where you would find that but one thing I know for sure is that no matter how good your heightmap is, you still will need to do a lot of tweaking to your terrain by hand to get it to look how you want it.[/quote]
