A corruption was detected

Every single time I try to play this game, after like 5 minutes of playing, I get this error.

“A corruption was detected and Brink is unable to continue loading. Please restart Brink and download the game add-on pack again.”

It then brings me back to the Dashboard. I have no idea what the problem is, I have no game add-on pack, I just rented the game. I exchanged the disc at Blockbuster and this disc has the same problem. All my other 360 games work fine.

Take a look at Brink data in the storage section of ‘My Xbox’. If there is any data marked ‘Pre-order’ or ‘DLC’ delete it and try to run Brink again.

If that fails delete all Brink data and try to run the game again.

Can you confirm whether you are crashing on a menu, watching a video or playing a match?

There is no pre-order DLC on my system, I just rented the game.

I’ve deleted all Brink data and tried it again, same error.
I’ve deleted all Brink data and played offline to avoid downloading the patch, same error.
I’ve installed the game on my HDD and instead of the error I get the “Disc read error” just as frequently.

The error doesn’t appear in specific situations, just after a certain amount of time playing the game (5-10 minutes). It can appear while watching a cutscene, while playing a challenge, while customizing my character, whatever. All my other games play absolutely fine. This game does not.

I Google’d it and it seems a couple other people are having the same problem. My game is absolutely unplayable.

What year is your console?

It’s the original 20g model, no HDMI, but it’s refurbished from MS after my original red ringed. So I’m guessing 2007?

Are you able to verify that the disc you have used/are using is able to play on another 360 kit?

At the moment, no. I could test it tomorrow I guess. The lady at Blockbuster said that the last person to play my current disc was an employee and he had no problems with it. I really doubt I just happened to get 2 bad discs in a row, though.

I understand that may just be a problem with my Xbox, but I can’t figure out why every other game works except this one. I’ve never encountered a problem like this, and the error message makes absolutely no sense to me.

Also, I’ve tried all the fixes I listed above with both discs. Just like the first disc, when I install it to the HDD it doesn’t give me the add-on error, it just says it can’t read the disc. Both discs have been in perfect condition.

Look on the back of your console, it will tell you what year it was made.

I am getting the same error every time i go in to customize my character (and also sporadically during game play)
Mine is a brand new game, I have reset my cache on my xBox, and tried playing on my system with a friends hard drive in place of mine. same error…
Any other suggestions?
Other games play fine on my console, although it is an older console…
