A beginners guide to Stoker

(sentimentalDime) #1

Stoker was just released yesterday, I haven’t mastered him yet, but i can give you some tips.

His weapons

Stoker has access to the Timik-47, M4A1, and the Stark AR.

I haven’t played very much with the Stark, so i will only be going over it briefly.

The Timik

The Timik has the fastest fire rate of the guns Stoker has access to, and it also does a lot of damage, the downside being the relatively high recoil when compared to the M4A1, I found this gun is best used in semi close range to medium range gunfights.

The M4A1

The M4A1 is more accurate and easy to use than the Timik, at the cost of RPM and damage, this gun works at pretty much all ranges, though I found it to be the most effective at medium range.

The Stark

This gun differs from the others by being a burst rifle, as I said earlier i have only played with this gun very little, but i found it to be the most useful at long range.

Overall, I prefer the M4A1

His abilities

The Molotov Grenade

The Molotov Grenade allows Stoker to throw a grenade that explodes on impact, covering the sorrounding area in fire.
This fire will deal damage at 40 DPS, but will also deal a lot of damage instantly if you manage to throw it directly at an enemy.
The Molotov can also be used to throw on a C4 to deny defenders to defuse it, though they will be able to put out your fire by throwing explosives/a smoke grenade at it.

The Ammo Station

This ability allows Stoker to place an ammo station, that will automatically refill your teammates, and your own, ammo, but it will also give your enemies ammo as well.
I found that placing it near a Healing Station proved the most useful.
It can also be used to block off doorways, or trap your enemies. (Suggested by @“Grave Knight” )

His loadouts

Stoker’s loadouts seem to the most blanced of any in the game, unlike Sparks or Sawbonez, there is no best loadout, it all comes down to your preference.
But, for a loadout with the M4A1, I would go for the M61 Modern Rifleman
For the Timik I would go with the T65 Modern Rifleman
And for the Stark I would go for S62 Modern Rifleman

Overall

I think Stoker is a nice addition to the game, and he has already gotten a permanent place in my squad.
Do i recommend him?
Yes I do

If you think I missed something, be sure to let me know with a reply.

I think the M55 is better, i know you trade the drilled but you also trade the secondary for the DE 50 which is the best from the power pistols, and quick draw is fine and extra supplies is decent

I do find it a bit odd he doesnt have personalized perks. I mean its cool that there really arent perfect loadouts but it would be nice if he had a couple of perks.

(_Sniff_) #4

Plenty of mercs don’t have personalized perks. In fact most don’t.

(FilterDecay) #5

oh I didnt know that. I thought they all had personalized perks.

Well it seems they have atleast class specific perks if not merc specific:

i.e

Lock-on Bushwhacker, Fletcher, Proxy

Ammo station actually has another use. It serves as a mini wall that can be used as cover (not as effective as it sounds) but more importantly limit enemy movement. You can actually trap people, in say, the elevator. Not only does this prevent them from easily leaving the elevator it gives you opportunity to throw a molotov on them with no where for them to escape.

They could have had a Stoker perk for extended molotov burn duration or radius. I’d use that card everytime

(sentimentalDime) #8

@Malkovich
I think that’s exactly what they didn’t want, people would use that every time, making every other card unviable.

(sentimentalDime) #9

@“Grave Knight”
Alright, i’ll edit that in.

(Malkovich) #10

By that logic, why do they have explodydron for Mercs like Nader and Sky?

(sentimentalDime) #11

@Malkovich
I don’t know, but haven’t you noticed that with the last 3 mercs, there really hasn’t been a definetive best loadout?

I can see what you’re trying to get at but that isn’t entirely true, for Phoenix loadouts with either Get Up or the perk with increased radius are better in general. As for Phantom the CR94 was arguably the best card and everyone knew it due to it having Crotzni and a longer cloak duration.

Also, you don’t necessarily have to pair this Stoker perk with another ‘good’ perk, you can pair it with the less desirable ones to make said undesirable loadouts more attractive.
