A basic user config file for an "average" computer?

(TheAcidpiss) #1

GTX 960
2310 2.9Ghz
8 ram
win 7

Something along the lines of Jackfrags config for BF4

I don’t know any of the code, I only have a 60 hz monitor but I still find it more fluid if I cap at 80 or so.

I need the code for thing like fps cap, show fps ect, and a little buff to performance without the lost of to0 much pretty pretty.

I pretty much have a solid smooth FPS atm, but when things get a hectic/ + certain areas on maps, trainyard for Eg.

You don’t need to tell me to update my CPU, I know I need to :slight_smile:

Any advice would be welcome in regards to settings, advice on hardware on the other hand… :\

Hey there!

Google outc1der’s config.
It’s the lowest you can possibly go.

Hope it’ll help! :slight_smile:

I sent you a link to the config I use.

Thanks for the help, seems like more than I might need though.

Plus, where can i find the fps cap limit in that mountain of text?

(qjack) #7

ShooterEngine.ini

bSmoothFrameRate=True
MinSmoothedFrameRate=0
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120

set for your needs

OT: i wanna do a complete config guide but with this poor text formatting and the pissed code window i can´t do that. :*

I run a config very similar to yours, except that I have an older cpu (i5 750 from 2009). Same gpu (asus strix gtx 960 2Go). Turn shadows off and this kind of stuff, bloom, depth of field, ambient occlusion, etc… If you don’t mind about anti-aliasing, keep the postprocessAAtype=0 in your command, it’s handy and give some fps.

In your config, you may try this, and this won’t interfere with the game graphical settings : do a copy your shooterengine.ini then go in it, search for “texturegroup” lines. You’ll find a line where you should have “numstreamedmips = 3”. Change the value to 0, and add this to every line which begin with “texturegroup” in the appropriate position (no matter where in the brackets, but don’t forget the comma and respect the formatting). You’re supposed to have two “texturegroup” paragraphs, so don’t forget to check closely. Save and turn the shooterengine.ini in read-only (the game will overwrite everything otherwise).

Most of the people who tried this had substantial fps increase. What it basically do is that it disables the UE3 texture stream and forces the gpu to load everything in its memory. Thus more gpu work and probably less for the cpu. Be careful to save another copy of the shooterengine.ini. Some friends could not start the game anymore. For most of us it worked very nicely with some having up to 50 fps increase.
