650Mb "Hotfix" ...Whaaat?

(sharpCave) #1

So the hotfix I donwloaded from Steam was 650Mb and it was the June 24th update …Well all this counts as 650Mb?

  • Removed 5v5 max game size option from Quick Join
  • Fixed new players getting put into Min Level 10 servers
  • Fixed the notice informing players that they own one of the Mercs in a bundle purchase if the Merc is in free rotation

I know some people like just the main part of an update, but I like detail :smirk:
And detail as in Warframe Detail. The link goes to patch notes of that game and its like a damn book! I don’t ask for the updates to be that big but maybe a bit more informal! What do you guys think :grey_question:

Patch notes have always been decidedly vague.

Also, the reason the patch is so large is because they use a different method for implementing patches. Rather than update existing files they replace them. It is a cleaner process but is high bandwidth intensive.

There is option 3, break the files into tiny files so there’s less mass to be replaced.

(Temporary) #4

Never really cared about the size of the file but the specifics regarding its content is always appreciated as it lets players know exactly what is happening behind the scenes.

(Glot) #5

there used to be 3.5 Gb Patches and 1.5Gb hotfixes.
I miss those…

…not realy

Many tiny files decrease game stability and increase load times.

Dunno about stability, load times I suppose so. Unless you have an SSD.

Same here! I don’t care about the size really, but I like all the details. Or most.
