News:

  • Alienware keys are ALL GONE now, there was an issue with some bots nabbing a large amount of keys and these are being resold on various third party sites. You are encouraged NOT to purchase these, as they are in talks with Alienware to prevent this in the next batch of them. Stay tuned!
  • There will be an announcement on social media (ie. Twitter/Facebook/Forums) when more keys for Alienware loadouts become available.
  • The “December contest” will start later in December. “Not this week, and not next week - maybe the week after.”
  • There “may be something for the holidays” in terms of Steam DLC packs or deals. No details on this yet, however.

Possible changes/updates:

  • They want to “reward people for playing competitive” and is something that is actively being worked on right now - it’s a relatively high priority.
  • There are no current planned/announced augment changes, besides the Pineapple Juggler rework.

2nd December:

  • The next update should “hopefully” arrive next week, although there is currently no ETA on the update.
  • The next update will be “fine tuning and maybe some other… things.”
  • Question: Could we see even amount of HP on generators soon? (Dome generators appear to be destroyed faster than other maps) - This might have something to do with the generators positioning. For example, on Dome they are more in the open and get the full Artillery strike damage, while on Trainyard the generator is up against the wall, so not everything will hit it.

In AUS servers I can barely get an execution match any more. I’ve played nearly 500 hours and never gotten a competitive match. I don’t think this should be a priority until later in development when there’s a larger player base.
The fine tuning will almost certainly be on Thunder. It will be interesting to see what they do with him. I really want a reason to play him over Fragger.
Anyway excellent work again lord Faraleth.

It would be nice to have some actual reason to play MM too, but right now with so few people playing it, the MM is horrendous… There just isn’t the playerbase available to support a decent reliable MM system - but, if there was incentives it might drive more people in, WITHOUT “forcing” them to do so; comp missions, I’m looking at you. >_> I think it would be a very good set of features to have implemented… fingers crossed this is pretty soon!

With peak players now averaging below 4000 even with an incentive it is going to be horrid. SD need to market more and better. DB is in decline so working on a game mode that introduces wait times that can be excessive and will struggle for balanced teams anyway is frankly a bad business decision and will only weaken the game further. Being able to open cases in the lobby would do more to improve match balancing which should hopefully improve player retainment.

It’s basic motivational psychology - dangling a reward works but should be avoided because if the reward isn’t present then people are likely to avoid it. Look at execution and how overwhelmingly strong people avoid it unless they have a mission - even then many are just deleting the mission.

The incentive to play ranked MM should be because they enjoy the format and they want to improve their rank. With the current player base the format doesn’t work because the MM algorithm struggles to form competitive teams due to a lack of player diversity due to insufficient players.

Hell if SD put a reward in for ranked MM they could very well hurt the standard pub numbers as people will perceive that due to lack of said reward they are no longer interested.

I’m getting close to the point now where I give up on SD. Too many bad business decisions.
