SMGs seem more powerful and accurate, pistol seem to take one or two more shots to kill. Of course, these are only my perceptions but I am pretty sure about the first one.
4MB Brink update on Xbox
Tampa, Galactic got some love. Carb-9 not so much, a bit of a nerf, and Kross a tiny nerf. But if you were good with certain guns before, you will still be good after the patch. That’s my impression after playing with comp players and getting their impressions. (on xbox.)
I spent some time with the CARB-9 last night, and it’s still a really good gun. The only real difference I can see is that it’s no longer accurate at long range, and I think that’s a good thing.

yeah - in general, i applaud the tweaks in terms of improved balance. i think they leveled off a few of the weapons that were a tad over-amplified and raised up a few that were weak-ish. this means a few of my favorites (kross and gerund come to mind) are a little less powerful…but i can live with that, especially if it means that an AR is now more capable at intermediate+ distance against a carb9 wielder (hated that)
In hard solo the friendly AI seems to be a bit more effective except in two very noticeable areas, the enemy AI is still brutal in the same areas.
1) Escorting Nechayev
2) Security - Day 6
1)
I can get everything at the start done, begin escorting Nechayev and the AI stays together and works well.
I get to the section with the large ramp he walks up with roughly 23/24 minutes left on the clock and then just suddenly all the AI disperse into a disorganised mess and the whole mission goes downhill in the short stretch from the ramp to the end.
The enemy AI of course makes this extremely tricky here as they all stay together and they just end up camping around him whilst the friendlies wander about all over the map, get mowed down by the enemy and sometimes just stand doing nothing leaving me as apparently the only one doing any work.
2)
Okay, so I can hack the crane, that’s not a massive problem most of the time, just irritating as sometimes I can get lucky with the friendly AI helping, other times I get unlucky and they decide to constantly take the long route to get to the crane meaning I don’t have much of a chance.
However, the main problem is the hacking at the end.
Firstly what seems to be a massive problem here is that the enemy spawn must be pretty close to the objective whilst the Security spawn is a far distance away so even if you kill many of the enemy they can be back within a short amount of time whilst you have to run quite a distance to get back.
Then again, the enemy just camps at the hack area and with the friendly doing the exact same as above where they are all disorganised, completely unhelpful and run straight to their deaths it feels on the wrong side of impossible. Plus on top of this, when you get the rare occasion where you begin hacking and the friendly AI surround you I’ve been having a problem with them suddenly deciding to be peaceful and allowing me to die by not firing at the enemy for whatever reason.
I can’t help but wonder if this is an error or not though because every other mission I’ve played since the patch on hard feels like easy did pre-patch.
And just one other small thing, the near-instakills enemies can do.
Why?
On something like Operation Flashpoint I get it, it’s okay there because I can do the exact same to the enemy and if I die it’s because I wasn’t observant enough or fast enough, etc but in Brink I can shoot say half a magazine into an enemy and they still have health yet with just a few shots with a much less powerful gun they can down me.
And the best part? Sometimes they aren’t even looking at me, they’re climbing or their guns aren’t even aimed at me.
Come on now, surely that has to be an error in some way.
Also, before it’s said, no, I don’t want to play on Live, I just want to sit, relax and play solo. No matter how many times I’ve seen somebody say, “It’s more fun with friends!”, or “But it’s supposed to be played MP!”, it won’t change my mind.
