4MB Brink update on Xbox
Gstaff from the Beth blog said that the PS3 update “right around the corner. Should be up in a couple hours”.
Dammit, I can’t check this out till tonight or tomorrow. Too busy at work today. See you guys online this weekend.
The news of the DLC finally coming and the release of this update is amazing, so glad it all finally comes
However…
I don’t mean to sound negative now and all in the midst of this joybuzz, but the one problem I actually had did not get fixed, my characters voices are still messed up and they just changed to another voice, not the original I chose such a long time ago
Is this a problem that Splash cannot solve?
They’re probably stcuk on what they are now, which sucks a bit but it shouldn’t happen again!
The game feels more balanced. It’s kinda funny though. I went from using a Carb 9 and getting most kills all the time (when I could find a game) to using a medium bodytype with the Euston and basically destroyed everyone in a full server (what?!) playing the game more similarly to COD.
So basically if you want to play a W:ET type gameplay experience Brink isn’t it but if you are looking for COD with a Objective twist…this plays more like that now. I only played a couple of matches. The game’s pace moves slower so it magnifies the importance of things that weren’t really important before because lights w/carb-9s don’t dominate anymore.
It’s kinda funny to me though. Good players will be good players. I owned with the carb…now I will own with a AR. It doesn’t matter. If you are good…you are good. Players who complained about carb 9 will still get owned…just with a different weapon. And to be honest…shooting from a distance with ADS using an AR gets me kills MUUUUCH easier than using the carb 9 ever did. I can’t wait to hear the bad kids complain about getting owned by the OP AR’s lol.

i found this to be true pre-weapons patch, although i tend to soften groups from a distance, and then close in with the SMG of choice (toss up between kross and bupdaun for me).
@AWM in my super quick weapons test this a.m., the ARs penalize you pretty heavily if you fire more than short bursts, so given the rate of fire of the SMGs and even accounting for the increased spread/decreased damage, i’d be surprised if, in a CQ dual between two similarly skilled players, the AR player would prevail. i think what will change, is that in intermediate/medium range duals/engagements the SMGs will no longer be OP (carb9 headshot from 1/2way across the map? really?)

No need to soften up anymore. Just a burst or two from long or medium distance with an AR and BAM…COD kills! Your SMG/AR assumption is pretty accurate from what I can tell.
unless I’m mistaken, they didnt adjust the damage or the spread of ARs (other than frkn, which i dont plan to use), they just normalized the recoil a bit. and given that the ARs i use have 45-48 damage (headshot) and 32-34 (bodyshot), it has never taken that many hits to bring people down with them…the issue was the (relatively)* tight spread + damage of the carb, which made its ROF OP against ARs, even at intermediate range.
edited to add: I’ve played COD multiplayer exactly 1x so I really dont have a frame of reference, although from the videos i’ve seen of it, Brink doesnt seem very COD-esque.
*from here forward, any reference to smaller spreads are to be considered relative within brink. i’m well aware of some folks feelings about how spray-ey the weapons are compared to other titles.
the bots are still ****ing assholes. I got shot twice in the head the whole game by a light with a pistol. constantly and half the time he was using downed fire. I hate that…
On the subject of AR spread and what-not, is it my imagination, or did they increase the max hipfire spread of the Rhett? I didn’t see anything about it in the change log, but it seems larger to me.
not sure, it seemed same/similar to me (i didnt notice the decrease in sustained recoil either)…i’ve always found it’s spread/kick to be a bit of a beast beyond 4-6 shot bursts though.
I would totally join you in that Jess, but you play on the wrong platform.
Shame on you.
I could have sworn the Rhett’s max hipfire spread was smaller than the other ARs, but I could be mistaken. Maybe I just never held the trigger for long enough before to have effectively reached max spread. But i do have a tendency to spray at close range, so idk.
In very close quarter combat the carb gets owned by the SMG tampa and AR euston. Tampa is a bad ass sprayer panic bitch…
The Euston really does fire like a big SMG now. Still has some recoil but definitely not as much. And its spread is pretty good.
