4 Rhino's, 1 Team, Unfair?

(TitanLock) #1

After the big “Free Merc Weekend” began Friday, July 31st, I was playing some Bridge, Objective, when my team found ourselves against 4 Rhino’s (Rhino is in free rotation at the time of this writing). At first I thought “Okay, this’ll be tough but we might still win,” but not 30 seconds later we found ourselves being spawncamped, like we were beating our heads against a wall, we FINALLY progressed some, but the cycle repeated again and again. I don’t have any say about changing this awesome game, but is there a solution to this? Anyone can play any merc they choose, yes, but what’s to stop them from taking advantage of this in competitive mode? Thoughts?

P.S. I have a picture of the scoreboard seconds before the match ended if anyone is interested.

Stacking just about any class becomes a problem, we see it every rotation. Nothing can be done about that, the old Battlefield sever restrictions (like only 4 recon per team) were really annoying. That said, they should make the rotation order unique to each steam account. That wouldn’t do anything for all out free weekends like this but that’s a rarity.

It’s the same with 4 bushwhackers or 4 proxys (actually its even worse because they can cover both the objective and spawncamp simultaneously).
until rotations are employs on a per-account basis, nothing will change about that.

4 bushwhackers is extremely annoying, if they they know what their doing somewhat then 4 guns suddenly turns into eight. The whole merc stacking thing I can see becoming a real big problem in the future when more people own different mercs.

A Merc stacked team is always annoying.
Since it will amplify the strength of that particular merc (in this case survivability and closerange dominance). However they also amplify the mercs weaknesses. 4 Rhinos means that the team has (compared to a traditional Merc distribution) overall less mobility/flanking power / less longrange superiority / less healing / less AOE abilities and less objective clearing speed. All that makes a stacked team worse than a less specialized one. The hard part in a pub game is to bring the whole team to exploiting the weaknesses of the enemy instead of bitching about OP and constantly rushing in.

Granted a more personalized free rotation. And the often hinted drawmode for comp. Could minimize the occurence of a stacked team.

Thanks all for the insight…

It seems that most of my problem was my team couldn’t work together. Though it gladdens me to know that I’m not the only one annoyed by stacking. I used to think Rhino was OP till I tried using him… big mistake.

They need to just put a cap on how many of the same type of merc can be in any one game. like 2. Shouldn’t need any more than that.

Yeah…and would give a little bit of meaning to actually locking in before the match starts!
