4 much needed fixes!

(Press E) #21

Melee in general needs a fix, not just the axe.

The beckhill is fine, the cricket bat and katana usually okayish, but everything else just doesn’t work at all.
Hit sounds with no damage, buggy melee on hills, hitboxes not lining up at all, etc.
People only seem to be noticing it after the axe was broken, but the entire system needs attention, and it has for a long time.

I’m not sure if this is a thing with fletcher bombs, but currently I like the proxy mine drawback since it prevents proxies in some situations from simply keeping mines in place forever, encouraging picking them up in case your team gets pushed back on top of the mines. I do understand that that is annoying if you’re far away from them. Idk, I see both sides to the argument so I can’t really advocate effectively for both.

Getting your team killed by friendly mines happens in pretty well every game with a proxy. It makes no sense, the only reason people seem to like it is because they hate proxy, and they like to get extra cheap kills.

To me it makes perfect sense considering it’s an explosive mine and I believe the devs stated it’s the way they intended it to be in the first place. But I’ll admit there’s some merit to Sploosh’s point that it’s now an issue because FF was never the standard to begin with. The only reason people seem opposed to it now is because they aren’t used to it, but overall I think the most balanced decision would be to leave it as it is now + enable both teams to be able to detonate it. If they wanna restrict it to ranked and CMM, so be it. I don’t personally care because I’d be fine with FF always on in competitive games to begin with. This argument reminds me of ammo stations for a lot of reasons. It’d kinda be like not wanting your own ammo station to be able to be shot down or dispense ammo to the enemy team simply because it belongs to your team, but at the end of the day it’s still an ammo station - at the end of the day a mine is still a mine and it’s a passive not active ability.

But how does it make sense that mines kill your team but you can walk right through friendly Stoker’s fire, stand in a friendly airstike, or take a friendly javelin rocket up the behind and take no damage.

It really should be a all or nothing kind of thing, I don’t care how much people hate proxy (And I find the shotgun bunnyhoppers pretty annoying) but there is no reason why her mines are exempt from protection while every other kind of explosive device isn’t.

I think the distinction is a definitive action or ‘activation’. Not sure how else to word this. Fire being on the ground, an airstrike falling on top of you, and so on are all effects from your own team that you’ve had nothing to do with. But shooting a mine, an enemy sticky bomb, or an enemy rocket as mentioned above is a clear action made. It’s a counter. A more applicable example would be how we’re able to distinguish enemy fire and smoke with a barrage of explosives which, again, is an active play or counter to their abilities and equipment. Should we not be able to do that either? Should we not be able to destroy enemy ammo stations or receive ammo from them? If the issue is entirely about it dealing damage back and essentially becoming a friendly mine - or restricting this change to ranked - then I think they’d have to change a lot of other similar examples I just listed. At the very least we should have the ability to disable it by shooting it but without the damage. Looking at it from this angle seems to align well with their statement about them now being the way they intended the mines to work.

No other kind of explosive of any other kind does that…there is no reason at all why mines should…even sticky bombs don’t do it.

Either friendly fires is on or off…to treat mines different than everything else in the game is BS play no matter how you stack it, just because people don’t like mines or proxy doesn’t justify this mechanic.

If we cherry pick what we want and don’t want to ignore the rules of the server then what next? I demand to be healed if I stand in a enemy Aura’s health station…seems pretty fair to me, especially since enemy ammo stations give me ammo.

How about friends set off Vasilli’s heart monitor…so if you use it to watch your back it’s only fair…I mean your team has beating hearts too.

You can’t just start cherry picking or you open up a whole can of worms.

(Mr.Cuddlesworth) #26

Number 3 really needs to get fixed. I don’t care about her rocket, just give me my sweet axe back.

#27

I’m not cherry picking, at least not intentionally, and Idk why everyone thinks this is just because Proxy is targeted or hated. The devs, not us, made this change on their own from my understanding. There’s really not much else I have to add to this. I think there are good arguments from both sides and I’ve said above in my first few posts that I’d understand if something like this were limited to ranked-like matches (All I play lately are FF servs and ranked anyway) or had the counter damage removed but still able to be shot sooner.

I like the change and I think I’m the silent majority here. This is the first time I’ve heard someone unhappy with the changes on here or the game to be honest. Edit: But just so you know you were still referencing passive not active abilities/actions/effects when making that final point. Frankly this is why I was really shocked that enemy ammo stations actually worked for me the first time I noticed ages ago. That seems to be the only enemy equipment or ability you can interact with without any action or shooting.

AFAIK Smooth or Exedore stated that the FF change for mines was a bug and was supposed to be fixed. Community response overall was positive about the change and wanted it to stay. Not sure if they are still planning to fix or not but at this point I assume they decided to keep it based on player feedback.

Ah, well that clears that up. I feel like they probably will end up reverting this change or restricting it then.

The community response is pretty split so they should definitely fix it. I remember seeing that it was a bug, but then some other players told me the devs are keeping it. I’ve talked to a lot of people about it and no one wanted the change, but some like it because it happened. I’ve never seen anyone ask for anything even similar to this lol. I get the idea, but it just doesn’t really belong. Too many problems occur and plenty of trolling can definitely occur. It would be much better to just have some FF servers so people can experience the feel of ranked without actually playing it. Shit just doesn’t belong in pubs. I’m sure it’s also really confusing to noobs once they realize that their mines or stickies are partially friendly fire.

Now having FF servers or somewhere to train for ranked would be nice, but there’s no way in hell I want friendly fire on in CASUAL matches.

You’re actually putting too much weight about bad sides of public FF-on servers. I mostly play on the server SD provided us (AIE server) or other community ones right now, and people actually pay way more attention than you can imagine. People behave themselves, and react pretty well when there are some griefers around. And there’s a lot of people below level 10 too.
