As a follow up to my last post, Id like to start a poll as to who thinks a 3rd person game type is a good idea?
Yes?
No?

I think all it would cater for is the very small niche market that want it, and would only play it for a short time any way. It’s a mode that needs further balancing, and takes away dev time towards the full game imo.
co-existing with 1st person I don’t like the idea at all, just highlights the advantages/disadvantages of each mode. As well as the simple fact it’s an FPS.
As its own mode, I’m indifferent if it costs nothing. Agreeing with DA, I wouldn’t want the developers wasting time on it.
I agree but i think it would be a nice side track, also it would be nice to see the free running animations. though yes this is solely a first person shooter
Let someone mod it, I’d rather they spent their time refining the elements needed to make the basic FPS game great. Playing from 3rd person gives you an advantage in that you can see over obstacles, around corners and so forth you can’t from a FP point of view, but the flip side is it’s harder to aim in the vertical dimension. Not wirth the effort to try and work these things out so it’s usable.
I like the idea of situational awareness perk or whatever it’s called giving you 3rd person just while you’re doing an objective, cool idea.
i always have been and always will be an FPS junkie at heart… that being said, the option of having a 3rd person view so i can see my awesome customized character would be cool… as long as it is an OPTION.
i would not like it if it were always in 3rd person… in fact someone would probably lose an eye or part of their throat if brink were released that way.
Just make a free running mode (no shoot but time to beat across A to B) using third person view
I voiced an interest in a defrag style mode in a different thread, timed speedruns through a map with a stopwatch etc. Can do standard runs, or speedcapture style (grab the docs and deliver them to another point). Not 3rd person though… ewww
Agreed. This should be done. Sells the game and engine, promotes advanced movement techniques and give the game a breather from the pew pew.
I would think he mean game mode not movement mode. Not everything should be shoehorned into the main game.
as a mode sure why not. Definitely not something id like to see the devs dedicating ANY of their time to, though!
There is a 3rd person mode in mw2 i played it for about 5 minutes, but it would be neat to see your character doing some parkour moves in 3rd person i guess
If people are willing to sacrifice the slot and accept costs on top of that I don’t see why they shouldn’t.
You’ve either failed hard at being funny or have managed to not only misread Apples’ post but also mine explaining his post.
I’d like them to produce more than one game mode to be honest. IMO better to segregate the playerbase in the core game than turn away a percentage because you’re not giving them what they want. I don’t think trying to please everyone in a single mode is going to work.
And yes Mods will bring more variety but surely you’ve got to have a willing playerbase to make those mods popular. To me that means a good foundation of modes already existing in the game.
There are “3rd person” and “3rd person”.
I haven’t seen people complaining about the 3rd eye on QW, still you could use it with the google as engineer but it wasn’t a problem since you couldn’t fire while using it, and the switch time was big enough.
There are others games using 3rd persons, just look at TF² 3rd person system. (does it needs to be explained?)
:stroggtapir:the part about the person, no the shooter, no the first… wait what? :stroggtapir:
Brink isn’t the first person shooter by any stretch of the imagination anyway.
I rather responded to the last part of your post.
