Anyone ever have their 3d view of the map disappear and you have to click on the screen to get it back? :???: If so any way to prevent that? It’s so annoying.

I get this too. Not sure if it’s the video card or what (ATI 9200, latest drivers). The only way I can get the 3d view to continously show is to zoom waaaaaaaaaay out, then it stays. I can’t seem to find any reference to this problem except here. Anyone else?

yea my 3d view goes all weird when opening new windows in radiant or selecting a different program thats running, i have an ati radeon 8500le so i think it has to do with ati video cards, because when i was mappin for rtcw last year i never got 3dview problems with my nvidia tnt2

it’s a problem only the ATI cards have, but not everyone has it so while the GFXcard will be the primary cause other things like MB & associated drivers will have an effect. I find the problem usually dissapears once the map reaches a certain size…

Yeah I’ve done some investigation. It’s a combination of how big your map is and how far out you’re zoomed in the 2D views. Sometimes you can have a huge map and zoomed in really tight, others it’s the opposite.
Really annoying but I would like to see it fixed (I’m sure someone will say do it yourself the code is available). I’ve updated drivers till the cows came home and still no luck. Oh well.

At least I know I’m not the only one 
This was driving me crazy for 3 days, had to learn never to use the 3D view since it would always disappear after one mouse click, then when my map got big enough the problem went away. Next map I started, the problem is back again. Seems you gotta work for a few days building up more detail until you can use 3D view properly. Annoying!
