Please tell me that there will be a dedicated server for the Xbox 360, crysis 2 was a failure because it didn’t have one please tell me that a game this absolutely epic and backed by someone like bethesda and made by PC guys will not let us console guys down.
360 dedicated server?
Don’t halo and CoD run on dedicated servers? pretty sure they do and you’re just sillly.
ah, well that’s sad
I will be very upset if it doesnt play well
Halo has never had dedicated servers… do you think the big massive pause when the host leaves in the middle of a match and it has to switch to another host is just for fun? Black Ops is peer 2 peer as well.
hmmm alright, well thanks for the info I just hope that this game works out as well. I only use those comparisons because they seem to have it down pat pretty well halos servers were USUALLY pretty decent.
my only concern is does Brink have the same mechanic where if the P2P host drops from the match, does it re-apply the host to another player or does it just kick everyone to the main menu. either way, imo P2P hasn’t ever been too much of an issue to me personally.
no the game has instant drop in and out support remember? so its not going to be just your game its just going to input you into someone elses game and them into yours. if you or they leave your game continues and AI just takes over the slots.
A lot of console games run without dedicated servers and run fine.
Crysis 2 had sloppy netcode.
Sloppy netcode with dedicated servers is usually ok, but it falls apart on P2P.
Good netcode and P2P isn’t bad.
And SD are a company who have almost entirely developed multiplayer products, so I’m pretty sure we won’t have to worry about the netcode being a problem.
Should be fine.
EDIT: And they confirmed host migration - so you won’t be kicked because the host left the game
I think he means host migration if one of the players that leaves is the host. I would assume there will be host migration in place… would be madness in this day and age not to tbh.

thanks :stroggtapir:
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Transformers: War for Cybertron are both missing host migration.
Just for a couple of recent examples. One of which is still running with a decent playerbase, the other would be if they hadn’t botched the release of their map packs.
