3 cobalts + 24k = 1 new random cobalt - what do you think?

From the October fine tuning patch notes:

New Feature: Loadout Trade-In (Beta)
Have a few Loadout cards you don’t want to use, but don’t want to bump up the rarity? The new Loadout Trade-In system will let you trade in three cards of the same rarity, from Bronze through Cobalt, for a random Loadout Card for the Merc of your choice at the same rarity.

What is your opinion. Is it OK, does it need only a little tuning, or is it way OP/UP?

Wtf, every high rarity skyhammer loadout I’ve traded up had a br16 so now I need 1 more cobalt to trade 3 br16’s to get another br16?

I will happily trade my 2 cobalts+50k for a skyhammer loadout OF CHOICE or atleast an m4 loadout (random colour).

All change comes with resistance. But in this case the trade down costs are just too much!

Imagine this: some get their preferred card in a few shots by trading up gold. The unlucky ones are punished more by another fee + losing cards. If it was three cobalts only, without fee, it would feel a lot more … reasonable.

edit: I just read its completely random – I guess I will hold onto those unused cobalts ;).

Seriously, what is this joke? Well played with this “update”.

(terminal) #5

There’s a way to get rid of unwanted cards now and people are complaining?

(Faraleth) #6

I hate it. XD I like the idea of getting rid of useless cobalts for something better, but DAMN… they are freakin’ expensive on their own.

Trade 3-for-1 is an insane kick in the teeth for anyone who’s bought them with real money. Not sure why they put “beta” on the feature too - because the game itself was still beta, the last time I checked :stuck_out_tongue: lol.

Honestly, I would encourage anyone who doesn’t like the feature, to NOT use it, and post constructive suggestions for alternate options.

I personally wouldn’t mind something like 1 “desired tier card” + 3 “tier below cards” = 1 new “desired tier” card, and which ever “desired tier” card you use, depends on the merc you get (ie. if you use Sparks, you get Sparks. If you use Vassili, you get Vassili, etc.) So there’s still a card “cost” for it, and perhaps something like a 10,000 credit cost would be MUCH nicer than the ludicrous 24,000… I just think a re-roll would be better than a “trade in”.

Just my thoughts.

(Demolama) #7

It is a way to keep cobalts super rare and it gives people like me sitting on a crap ton of credits something to spend them on. ( except I really don’t care about cosmetics)

(neverplayseriou) #8

@viridianEmplacement we lose tripple the amount of useless cards+credits for another useless card…

(Szakalot) #9

it would be fine if you could pick the card, or at least the weapon on the card

Also loving the random increase in the credit jump between Gold and Cobalt.

I think if you use 3 tier below you should be able to pick your loadout, reroll for a random loadout for 10k or pick 1 card with the loadout you want 1 tier down and spend the x amount to put that loadout on the card you want.

Not entirely sure how they think this current system will encourage people to buy elite cases.

(terminal) #11

Oh dang, I thought it said we can pick the card of our choice.
disregard my vote then.

(qjack) #12

it just makes no sense. does it? :frowning:

(Yes) #13

Three cobalts + half a merc in credits and it’s still random, who the hell thought that was a good idea? Either drastically reduce the price or allow us to pick the exact loadout we want.

(Mister__Wiggles) #14

Worst. Idea. Ever.
So now I need to have one more skyhammer in cobalt and a boat load of credits for the chance to get the ONE I want? No thanks, I’m afraid to say this was something I was looking forward to but it’s been implemented wrong. The players have spoke about what they want in a respin and it’s been completely ignored. This will probably push me away from the game for a bit tbh.

(Valvts) #15

This is the stupidest idea I ever thought will be implemented on the issue, seriously SD, who the hell manages this stuff? Dont you read the forums at all? 24k + 3 cobalt for another random cobalt? Is it 1 of April?

(Coconut) #16

With how hard it is to get Cobalts, I can’t imagine any situation where the 3-1 makes sense. I appreciate that they recognize that something needs to be done but this is not it. I do like @Faraleth 's idea of the 1 “desired tier card” + 3 “tier below cards” = 1 new “desired tier” card. I think that’s freaking genius and that makes sense to me. It’s expensive and makes you think twice before you do it but it’s not ludicrously over priced like the current system.

(acrobaticBudgie) #17

If you could pick the loadout you want or respin until you get it, there’s no incentive to continue once you’ve got the half-dozen or so that you use regularly. In the absence of customisable skins or other such ephemera, that risks you losing interest in continuing to play because you’re no longer playing for a particular unlock.

(Corpse) #18

Looks to me that people don’t seem to value the cobalt cards as high as they are intended, resulting in a discrepancy between what people expect and what SD intents.
It should be clear that the cobalt cards are intended to be the rarest and highest value cards out there, but apparently people are getting them too easily to value them as such.
So I guess SD can either up the cost and reduce the chance of getting a cobalt to bring it more in line with the trade-in cost, or reduce the trade-in cost and look to introduce a higher tier card with a rarity more in line with what they intended.

Edit/addendum:
Regarding the discrepancy between intended and perceived value. It’s clear that a lot of people in the community place more value on what weapon the card has than the skin which is supposed to add the value to the card. Resulting in people marking a lot of cobalt cards as garbage, just because it does not have the weapon that they want on it, while those cards are still considered as high value by the system, since they’re still of the cobalt kind.

(Eox) #19

It’s terrible.

Can someone bring back the calculation in order to get a random Cobalt by trade up with credits ? Because I am pretty sure it was kind of an insane cost so far. Now multiply that price per three, and add 24k credits. You get the price to roll another Cobalt, for three cobalts, and still no RNG control. This is litterally wasting credits.

That trading system already ask us to get three cards of the same kind an require an increased cost. With this price, we should be able to pick the a card the loadout we want. The price of a traded in card is equal to the price of three traded up loadouts of the same rarity plus the fee : this is insane. For such a high price, I wouldn’t ever trade in. Better keep trying to get my loadouts with successive trade-ups : it’s much less costly.

(kibloy) #20

I understand they’re trying to keep RNG in the equation so people keep buying cases… but that price is just ludicrous.
As long as this is their response to paying customers who put enough money into the game to have this problem in the first place… I’m going to hold off on supporting them with my wallet.
