23rd September Dev Stream Round-Up

News:

  • The update is NOT on track for release around the 30th September in spite of previous speculation. It’s looking like the next update will be 2 weeks after the recent update, after the recent delays (most likely, around the 6th October).
  • “Toomic has been looking into player stats.” – Not a clue about the context of this, honestly. Maybe we’re getting player stats soon? Soon.
  • There are NO plans to port Dirty Bomb to Linux any time soon.
  • The maps are currently being worked on to stop people glitching out of them with Fragger grenades. No ETA for it, but it should be in an upcoming update.
  • Question: Any hints on the next merc? – “I don’t know… I can’t think. I’d like to do some kind of hot or cold game, just for a laugh, but I can’t think.” (Hmm…)
  • Shoe had no comment on the Logitech cards seen in yesterday’s stream.

Possible changes/updates:

  • After discussion and testing of the Grandeur SR today, they came to the conclusion that it’s in a good spot and will not be changed. (In spite of previous discussion that it might be)
  • Phantom will never be getting a spotter ability like the other recons. His “role in the game is killing people”.
  • They are aware Sparks hit-detection is incredibly inaccurate and will often miss, even when it looks as if you hit your target – this is currently being investigated right now and a fix will be coming in a future update.
  • There are no plans for predictable recoil being added in the near future.
  • They are aware of the “toggle iron-sights” bug, however it’s not currently being worked on. Due to Shoe’s complaint though, it looks like it will be fixed.
  • There are no plans to make cobalt trade-ups less RNG, however “things are coming” in regards to loadouts and possibly trading up.

  • Possibly one of the funniest moments I’ve seen on stream – Shoe got trolled hard when making strawpolls and asking people to vote something for him, and they did completely the opposite… It was too good. c: (Here is an example: http://strawpoll.me/5563755/r Shoe wanted people to vote “Toggle”)
  • Shoe trolled the chat back with a raffle winner…
  • The last time Shoe went to America, he was “pre-fap stage”. His words, not mine. Oh dear, Shoe.

He was made less visible again now D: I’ve been having lots of fun as a spooky, sneaky ghost :3

…now all we need is his noise to be quieter, and his stupid shield to be removed! XD And he will be fine. ^.^

He’s still not in a position stealth wise to remove the shield. Since he is only stealthy when slowly moving he still needs his shield to get places. If you remove the shield you need to make him less visible while moving quickly. I consider him to be fairly balanced now though, still needs a more team oriented utility.

Instead they will add more horizontal recoil ala smg9, because thats exactly what you want but you just doesnt know about it yet 8D.

Thank you for the round-up @Faraleth! <3 Now, lets see what we got in store for us today… I’m excited to see what exactly they have planned for loadout cards in regards of useless cobalts and if these changes will also include some way to reroll the skin on a card you own(i.e. paying X amount of credits to change a Shard to a Fragment on your favourite Cobalt).

I won’t get my hopes up since SD are master trolls and a lot of the stuff they say about upcoming content can be false or just really no hints.
If it was a hint to who I think it is then damn Shoe you are pretty clever when it comes to this but I feel like next stream he will push it again too far.

Phantom, not Phoenix. And it’s perfectly acceptable that he does not get a spotting ability since he’s not really a “recon” merc fully, he’s sort of his own thing but is simply classified under recon for the purposes of the game. Besides he’s mainly melee orientated which means why would you need to spot enemies? That is more useful for sniper mercs like Vassili, RedEye, and Aimee.

They still need to fix the lunge attack range cause it’s still bugged. The range of it is shorter than the slash attack, the primary attack if I’m not wrong.

I do agree that Phantom seems to be bordering more on the lines of Assault, as opposed to Recon - because while he is supposed to be sneaky and stealthy, in reality he doesn’t really work that way - I still see people tanking damage with his cloak/shield, as opposed to actual using it for sneaking around. >.<
