2 routes for tank?

(P4nth3r) #1

I got a small question.

Is it possible to let a tank take 2 different routes depending on certain things build or destroyed??

exsample. if a bridge is destroyed when the tank get’s there it will drive on and drive around the water, but if the bridge is build it will drive over the bridge.

Could this be possible with scripting/mapping??

Short answer: Yes.

I started a map (which I cancelled for several reasons) where a tank was driving over a bridge. Behind this bridge there were two barriers (one left, one right) which could have been built by the defending team. There were 4 possibilities that could happen:

  1. No barrier built - tank was going left way (default way)
  2. left barrier built - tank was going right way
  3. right barrier built - tank was going left way
  4. both barriers built - tank stopped in front of both barriers

Sounds like some tricky accum-stuff when the tank comes to the spot where it will either go left or right

Yes it was tricky and took some time :moo: But I still like the idea because the defending team is able to bias the way the tank goes by building only one barrier (blocking one way the tank could move). When both barriers are built, the offensive team is able to decide which way the tank should go by either blowing up the left or right barrier.

I’ve made a box map and copied the necessary things into it with some additions like forward spawns and one objective. The script is a modified goldrush script. I was too lazy to rearrange the spline points for this box map so the tank needs some time until it shoots a hole in a wall at the end of it’s journey. With ETPro one could increase b_moverscale

You can get the map and script file here.

My point too, I think there are much more ways to make a map interesing then used now. Choices should be a bigger part of a map, along with logic.
If a tank is blocked by something, I won’t just wait there if there is a alternative route.

But thanx for answering my question, Now I can go on with my map design and knowing my options.
