Now I know the title sounds extremely reminiscent of a disturbing internet memory, but this is literally all that happened in a match I played today. One Aura was pocketing two Rhinos and it got to the point where almost our entire team went Nader/Fragger/Fletcher. The whole explosives trick worked but it wasn’t so easy to execute once another heavy Rhino player joined the server. Are we going to get a mechanic that limits the stacking of mercs? It’s like playing against one giant bullet hose. God forbid everybody goes Proxy.
2 Rhinos, 1 Aura
Sounds like a perfect Skyhammer situation. If it’s outdoors they’ll scatter quickly, and if indoors you have a decent grenade skill that can kill both Heal Station and Aura (probably a good opener for the real explosives).
Arty and Kira would probably so be great if it’s outdoors, but unfortunately they’re not as useful as Sky. Hopefully Stoker’s addition, whenever that may be, will break up this tactic. Nothing says run like setting Rhino’s pants on fire.
The situation you describe is pretty easy to beat even on pubs assuming you have Fragger or Nader in your group or somebody else on the team does. You know exactly where they are due to the station placement and most of the bad Rhinos sit there with their guns spun up (while also rocking N2O which makes no sense).
The scenario you dislike is exactly the one I like because it’s so easy to beat. A mobile Rhino in a pub is infinitely better than a stationary one sitting on a health station.
Doesn’t really matter. Bad Rhino’s that are easy to kill sit on aura stations in pubs the whole time. Good ones actually get out and about.
I had a game with 3 Rhinos and 2 auras, we got rekt. People agreed you shouldn’t be able to stack rhinos;
Agreed, sitting ducks are easy experience for anyone with explosives.
Not to mention that they did buff up rhino’s speed, so he can actually get somewhere. But even still, if you catch the sight of the Rhino before he spots you, headshots bring that HP bulk down faster than his Minigun can heat up.
I have been guilty of this. Matter of fact, it might have been me in the match you are referring to :P. The team managed to repair the EV fairly quickly, and escorted it in a reasonable amount of time, but once me and another person switched to Rhino and aura placed her station inside the lab, the other team stalled completely (although there were a few close calls). It is a strategy that you must be prepared for if you’re playing Bridge. I’ll usually put a Fragger or Nader in my squad if I know I’m gonna be playing that level. A few well placed grenades, and that health station (and possibly the Rhino’s), are toast. Better luck next time
Had a 7v7 earlier today where 6 of the team was Phoenix and the last a Vas…all of the Keks on their team was brutal. (Didn’t help the fact my team was all 11’s and below and their team was full of 30’s and 20’s)
Phoenix isn’t OP alone but when you 6 healers with the best SMG in the game and outskill you…it hurts >.<
Aim for the health station and/or the medic first with your grenades OR your bullets. Two Fraggers on a team should be more than enough to take down this bunch of Rhinos.
Although if there was more than one Aura, I can see how that would be a difficulty. However, if so many people are sticking so closely together then they become incredibly easy to flank and to trap them. You should be trying to take them down from multiple angles so that if they need to temporarily retreat (which will happen if you hit them with enough grenades), they have nowhere to go and they die. Simple.

But heres the thing. They did move. They relocated at least twice per minute just to keep us on our feet. These guys were brutally efficient.

Wrong. Go watch a Dirty Cups match.

Pretty hard to do when you’re getting the enemy Rhinos are communicating and taking down priority targets methodologically. The choke point bullet hose is real.

When you tell somebody they are wrong, you better be very specific about it. Because you are actually the one in the wrong here
And I’ll actually explain why.
In a pub if you sit on an Aura station and spin up your gun all the time you’re going to die. That’s pretty much the short of it. Nobody can argue that and saying, “go watch Dirty Cups” makes me laugh because I wasn’t talking about 5v5 competitive so it makes no sense given the context. The coordination typically just isn’t there and all you do is broadcast your position in not one but two ways making it incredibly easy for even an average player who has the right mercs in their lineup to win out. Fletcher, Nader and Fragger all pretty much crap on stationary Rhino’s in most map areas.
And yes, when we talk about 5v5 competitive matches (not matchmaking) Rhino works for some teams/setups a bit on the first objective on Bridge (but it’s never really held good teams) and also the first objective on Terminal in the room next to the MG. The latter is currently gaining more traction but, again, it’s still hard to hold and some teams have adapted by running Fletcher more. So yes, in those cases the Rhino doesn’t move a whole lot but that has nothing to do with pubs which was what the conversation was about and I specifically stated.
