14th December Dev Round-Up [Update Info & What The Dickens?]

News:

  • The next update should hopefully be coming “later this week”. Please remember, this is subject to change and NOT 100% confirmed.
  • There NO new maps, nor mercs in the next update. It will be majorly a fine tuning (balance/fixes) and “possibly some other things”.
  • Alienware loadouts will be returning and Alienware have implemented extra measures to prevent bots from nabbing all the keys. Keep an eye on social channels, because it should be VERY soon!
  • Question: Will there be a winter sale? - “I think it’s fairly safe to say there will be some things. Especially with the Steam winter sale, and all. Just keep an eye out!”
  • There will be some special themed skins/loadout cards.
  • TRINKETS are coming to Dirty Bomb! - Trinkets can be attached to your primary weapon, which will be viewable as you play.
  • There will be a Christmas event, in which the trinkets below can be earned. Playing for 3 hours will get you the coal trinket, playing for a further 12 hours will get the lantern and a further 45 hours will get you the snowman. These will be unlocked in time increments, so you can potentially earn all 3. (The total play time required will be 60 hours)

  • The event will last from 22nd December - 6th January
  • There will be other trinkets available for real-money purchase, however no details on these yet.

Possible changes/updates:

  • Ranked seasons for competitive will begin in 2016, however we are currently in pre-season until season 1 starts - ranks will be reset at the start of every new season (as well as at the end on pre-season).
  • There will be some special rewards at the end of each season. For the pre-season, players will earn special ranked trinkets.

  • Friendly fire will be turned ON in competitive.
  • Vote-kicking in competitive will be implemented.
  • Ranked details will be implemented in your profile page.
  • A better win:loss ratio algorithm will be implemented for competitive.

Extra Info:

  • MissMurder and RazielWarmonic streamed today!
  • Friday will be MissMurder’s last stream.
  • The prizes for contests (such as the shirts) are being sent out TODAY. Obviously, delivery will take longer depending on your location (ie. outside of the US).

Trinkets seem like a step in the right direction monetarily. Assuming it’s not RNG. People have been asking for cosmetics for ages besides RNG skins and while these don’t really impress me all that much (cute coal aside) I think it’s the right path for some extra $$$.

Okay. since you fixed the issue with Alienwarearena. What about they unblock Germany again? I still get a timeout without a proxy but French/British/Polish/Spanish/American IPs work fine.

Clarification: We are currently in pre-season. Ranks will not be reset until Season 1. :slight_smile:

Are you sure this is all the information? I’m not seeing any RNG and it’s starting to get my hopes up. I’m legitimately worried, up is down, left is right and bananas are blue.

Maybe you took a little… just a teensy bit of inspiration from Blacklight? Either way this is a great way to do monetisation, I’m glad to see SD has gone this way.

Now if only they borrowed recoil patterns for every weapon…you know, like we already have with some guns but not others…SERIOUSLY SPLASH WHY U DO DIS TO ME?
