100G to unlock a char - a bit cheap?

(Violator) #1

Only played a few rounds and have already nearly unlocked all the chars - is this just for testing?

(BomBaKlaK) #2

It’s the alpha !
they just change the name in Beta and send it to nexon.

need to wait the real next update to check this out

(Rex) #3

I wondered when someone would complain about this. XD hahahaha…

*this thread is not very smart Violator*

(fragon89) #4

they dont want us to grind for the mercs, they want us to test stuff… its usually to get alot of money and fast xp in alphas/betas

(Anti) #5

Prices will be adjusted multiple times during beta as we balance the various unlock rates, and to help with testing.

(Raviolay) #6

Yep 500,000G or 50,000NX Per Merc, that’s fair in comparison to Nexons other games, that’s practically giving it away:D

(zeroooo) #7

I hate this NX ****!

I hope we that we sit Here in a year and play a greatgame and dont look back and say, damn this nexon migration destroyed our whole game…

What would it matter if it was NX points, SD Gold, Lucky Charms Marshmallows… it would still be present and NECESSARY!

(Kl3ppy) #9

I think that it would be ok if we have to pay directly to SD.

The ping sux*, and their forum isn’t really my cup of tea either. But aside from that, the core game appears to reamain relatively untouched. As long as it stays that way and Nexon fixes the server issues I think I don’t care who’s running the game. Aside from that I’m looking forward to the promised patch/update-marathon over the next two months; and of course the multitude of new players wich will finally fill up all those empty servers, 24/7.

*(but the game is working surprisingly well, considering how high the ping actually is(120+))

(.N.E.R.D.) #11

What kind of unlock model are you planning to do here anti, all mercs the same price or in steps ???

I would really like to have a relatively cheap first unlock so everyone can unlock his fav merc easy. After that it can be expensive, that’s fine with me. I just don’t wanna play a week to get my lovely Stoker/BBQ back

(DB Genome editor) #12

I like the idea of increasingly more expensive unlocks as it give you the possibility of quickly get a couple of new mercs without having the whole set unlocked after a few days (so it becomes a bit of a collecting thing).

I’m also really curious to know if there is any plan for a rotation of the “free” mercs or some other sort of tryout scheme? Folks in the Alpha have the benefit of having tried all “original 15” and we made our own opinion on their respective strengths. With the current cost people in the Beta will quickly be able to do the same with no significant risk. But if the unlocking cost is eventually significant (later in the Beta or once the game goes live), it would be nice if people didn’t have to guess which locked mercs best suit their style…

(Mustang) #13

A merc testing facility is a must.

(DB Genome editor) #14

Would be nice, but a stand-alone test facility that would give a good feel for how a merc will perform in game (including proficiencies, abilities, etc…) may require a serious effort to put together, much more than say setting up 24h unlock for any merc of your choice you don’t own once a week.

(Mustang) #15

Indeed, I don’t care how they do it as long as there is somehow the option to “try before you buy”.

(Kl3ppy) #16

In Rad soldiers you can test the new merc. Its just a game vs ai but better than nothing

(DarkangelUK) #17

I wonder if a scaling pay system would entice anyone? You have your obvious grind to unlock the merc, or you have your one off payment to unlock him immediately… what about mid-size payments to shorten the amount of points/time to unlock the merc? WARNING: purely made up numbers ahead So for example roughly 100hrs of standard play time earns enough XP to unlock one merc, alternatively pay $10 to unlock immediately, or pay $5 to reduce the XP requirement by 50% and halve the effort required.

(Mustang) #18

Sounds like a re-invention of the standard XP boost.

(DB Genome editor) #19

You can have the full range of “earn vs buy” ratios by making all unlocks use in-game coins, but also allow people to buy coins with real money. So the coins you earn by playing and those you purchase would all go in the same pool from which you would buy unlocks.

(Anti) #20

We have a few ideas (most of which have just been suggested in this thread) but we’ve still not finalized what we’d like to do and will probably test several options during beta. We expect there to be some element of trial content though (rotations, limited access, whatever) as well as some tiering.

When we’ve made our mind up we’ll certainly communicate the whole plan to you.
