10 bucks is too much for a new merc

Or is it?

https://www.google.com/publicdata/explore?ds=ml9s8a132hlg_&met_y=minimum_wage&idim=country:uk:fr:ie&fdim_y=currency:eur&hl=en&dl=en

In America, the average wage per month is about 1200 before taxes, in the UK, it’s roughly 1582 per month, before taxes or not I do not know, I live in the U.S.

But, with all that said, that’s about 300-395 per week.

I think most people could afford to spend 10 buck on a new character they really want, and if they aren’t sure, just wait for the next rotation. By then you should have enough in game credits, right?

So if you can’t afford Phantom tomorrow, chill out, he’ll be on the next rotation and you should be able to afford him by then.

If that is their minimum wage than how can they even afford a computer that can run Dirty Bomb in the first place…?

It’s not really about being able to afford it. It’s about price compared to other games.

Frugality; save up to buy a good pc, ride a bicycle to work XD

It’s more about taking advantage of people’s impatience/ desire to play a merc that matches there playstyle. I bought Sparks, because I like playing support and I like lazor beams…and I like this game…at 62 hours and counting, I feel I’ll get my money’s worth, since I use her almost exclusively.

And OP was referring (I assume) to brand new mercs, I anticipate a price drop on the mercs that have been around for a while as the roster continues to fill up (hopefully).

…plus, dev’s gotta pay bills too

It’s either grind ingame creds or fork out your real cash. I don’t think 10$ is steep at all, in NZ here it’s about $12, and that saves you a couple days worth of grinding, and anyone can make more than that in a day of work.

The only problem is people who don’t have jobs. I mean kids, seriously, not everyone who plays Dirty Bomb is over 16 or whatever the average working age is in your country. This is what makes young people, like me, a little turned off, because we don’t really have any source of income. So then we have to grind, and of course, it can get a bit irritating, causing some people to make a thread post or two.

But yea $10 USD isn’t bad.

It costs $68 to buy all the Mercs that aren’t free (Skyhammer & Aura).

That’s roughly the price of a new game in my state after sales tax.

So that price seems plenty seems fair to me.

Plus they gave us Fragger for free, so really, it’s only $58 to own all mercs at this point.

$10.00USD compared to the amount of time it would take to grind in game? I think it’s completely worth it and isn’t very steep at all. That being said, I don’t think I will buy mercs anyways. :stuck_out_tongue:

I really don’t think $10 is bad at all. Once a player has the mercs they want, they’ll be able to buy the new mercs with credits when they are released anyway. I know I’ll periodically be spending money on this game, just to help support the development though.

Good feedback so far but I’m surprised nobody mentioned the time argument here.

60 bucks up front for Call of Booty, vs 10 bucks ever so often for a new merc. Honestly it’s like 10 bucks month for each one, 20 if you wanna get specific.

That’s relatively reasonable considering the other options. 60-80 bucks for a new game, no chance to even try it out first.

Call of Duty and Battlefield aren’t even $60 games anymore.

They now cost $100 thanks to stupid “season passes” if you don’t want to be stuck playing the extremely limited amount of maps that ship on the game disc.

I think the $10 price is too high when I compare it to other games/genres. For example, the Predator is about to come out for MKX. He costs $5 and is a fully animated and fleshed out fighting game character with tons of work that went in to him. Compare that to a merc in this game and there really isn’t any comparison. Most other fighting games charge similar prices or less which is why almost everyone picks them up even if they don’t plan on using them.

Then you have LoL/HotS who charges more for their characters, which DB is obviously modeled after, who charges $10. I’d wager the reasoning is you can get a lot of people to pay $10 then discount to 50% off later or do bundles and get most of the rest of the people who would have paid $5. That would generate more profit while keeping customers somewhat happy if annoyed.

So the $10 price to me makes sense from a business perspective even if I think it’s steep as a customer. However, I’m sitting on a pile of credits since there isn’t anything to spend them on yet so I have plenty for the next 4 mercs so the cost really isn’t applicable to me.

I’ve bought every single merc with $$ and I work as a janitor. Not to mention i’ve spent over 100$ on elite cases. If you can’t afford to buy a merc then you grind it. Also in case you’re gonna try the “living with parents” thing. Nope I’ve been on my own since 18(5 years). If you can’t afford something then you shouldn’t be spending your money on it. Build up savings first then spend your money on things you want.

Sounds nice. My parents are still afraid of me getting hit by a car when I’m out alone. :expressionless:

Because you HAVE TO spend real money on Mercs, right? It isn’t even that hard to get 50K Credits for a merc.
Straight honest: If you can’t donate, so the devs can improve the game with more money, be silent.
