1 request for little game menu change - show loadout

(chicHouse) #1

Hi Nexon! I have only 1 request for little cosmetic change in the game menu.

I own lots of loadouts cards for almost all the mercs. But sometimes I forget which one I have assigned for current squad. I change them quite often.

Is it possible to add this feature, if I click on merc in my squad, assigned loadout will show too as on the picture?

Iam attaching pucture (LC - assigned loadout card)

thanks!!

this feature will save me lots of time checking which loadout I have for each merc. Because system now is not practical (offering only change loadout with right click mouse, but not showing current loadout for each merc)

Totally agree. I’m brewing up a large list of suggestions I want to post and this is one of them. Current setup is VERY inconvenient.

This would greatly help. Now every day when I launch the game for the first time I reselect all mercs to be sure I’m not stuck with some “experimental” loadouts.

Just going to drop here what I said on the same subject on the SD forums:

Why even bother with having to click on the merc icon to know what loadout is assigned to him/her? The lobby menu shows all that info in a single view and there is no reason for the main one to be any different. In fact it’s actually poor interface design to have similar yet different ways of doing the exact same things in different places.

This is what I’d like to see:

Mind you, that version could be improved as well as it is not obvious at first glance that the little man icon is to pick a different merc while the “Change” button is to swap loadouts on the current merc. Different button size and colors, as well as one having text and the other not also don’t help selling the relative importance of the 2 options.

@Djiesse I have to slightly disagree with your idea.

Look at the picture. Its clearly you use high res LCD, i guess more than 1920*1080. Visual of your proposal is 3steps under current game welcome screen. I love the current design and the triangle.

Players with screen res below 1600*900 (majority) will see loaouds instead of merc in the middle ,because whole screen will adjust to their low res.

Also 3 loadouts instead of mercs may confuse new players. How to add new merc into squad? end so on. There are other things I dont want to mention becuse every player can imagine the change and its impact.

@chicHouse déjà-vu all over again

To recap what I said on the SD forums:

  • Resolution is not an issue (mine is actually 1280x720), but aspect ratio would be: that wider squad box would not fit in a 4:3 layout, so things would need to be arranged differently for sure.
  • Consistency in the interface is my gripe, having 2 completely different interfaces to configure your squad (one in the main menu and one in the game lobby) is confusing. The current lobby interface provides more info (i.e. active loadout) so right now it is the one I consider superior.
  • Whichever layout / configuration is used in the end, it should ideally display all relevant info (selected mercs and loadout) without the need for additional actions (clicks or mouse-over) and provide clear and intuitive means of changing mercs and loadouts (i.e no vague icons which you need to try to know what they do).

@Djiesse go on, post the same comment on reddit so I can reply with the same answer AGAIN! xP lmao

In all seriousness though, I really like that idea and wish they had it! D: Might need pushing over to the left a little more to fit on 4:3, which might eat into the portrait space, so some things would have to be configured, but it’s easily doable. Got my fingers crossed for that one, because it would be very handy.

To be honest I didn’t know how to change mercs in the beginning either. also didnt know there was a free rotation so when i came back to give db a second chance I was like “WTF where did fragger go”

But the solution to the resolution (hey, that rhymed) would be to scale the ui to the resolution, kind of like how responsive websites work, you could easily move the important elements in closer together to fit 4:3 while making the merc picture (the massive proud arty in the middle of the screenshot) smaller or disappear completely as it is useless other for the sake of looks. How it works with most html5/responsive sites these days, get rid of the unimportant elements to display the most important information on the screen if it is too small to view all of it decently.
