1 Free Special Edition Card

What if everyone got 1 free special edition card every time there was an event? I don’t think this would devalue them, as your chance of getting the one you want is still very low (thereby incentivizing you to get more), but it will allow people to use it and feel like they were celebrating the event with everyone else, and they would be able to have it as a reminder that they were there.

I love this game, but I don’t get to play it a lot. As a result, I probably will not get a festive loadout unless I drop $35, which is a hefty price tag to be staring at every time there is a special event. I was very lucky during the last event and got one of the cards, and I’m glad I did because I can show it off later to show I’ve been around a while. I know the new trinkets will be pretty easy to get, but I just feel like a single festive loadout isn’t gamebreaking. Also I admit I love the xmas sweaters.

What do you think? Sorry if this has been posted a lot before.

Well, technically it would ‘devalue’ them, for people who actually care about that kind of stuff, because even if there is still a low chance of getting what you wanted, there would still be MANY ore of them around, instead of a good chunk of the player population never getting one at all.

I think this is why Splash Damage now has instituted the random case drop that gives you a 100% chance of getting the skin. It makes it so there is a much higher chance overall of more people getting it, but still makes it so the skin has some rarity. As soon as you start just handing out the stuff that used to require people to grind or pay money to get cases with higher drop chances, the sooner you see some people play less because they are not forced to grind more than they normally would, and you see people buying cases less because they maybe got the skin/loadout combo they wanted from the free 100% case and don’t feel they need to spend money to get another one.

That said, I personally wouldn’t mind if Splash Damage decided to just hand out a 100% case to everyone that plays during the event, just giving my reasoning for why I think it probably won’t happen.

these events are made for money what i totally understand and you have trinket hunt soo if you wanna be special snow flake… get the snow man because a lot of people wont have time
or they just like me wanna have some time with tier families not computers

Those events are not about money in the slightest, since all that stuff is purely cosmetical and gives nothing in terms of power.
Its exactly the same thing as with cobalts, that are, for all intenses and purposes, identical to bronze ones, just with a different colored skin, that is not even unique.
And complaining about purely cosmetical stuff being “all about money” is ridiculous. Thats kinda the point of it in proper f2p game - game has to make money to stay viable.

it wouldn’t devalue them to the point where no one cares about buying or grinding for them.

grinding for them is not really an option either. the RNG chance is so low that someone who plays 1 hour can get one and someone who plays a thousand hours can possibly not get one. hence my suggestion. or make it like the trinkets, where after x hours u get one guaranteed.
