XP boost for playing unfilled roles/classes?

I still don’t see what’s wrong with one class being exceptional at raking in the bodycount. Neither do I see the killing as an equally shared responsibility. Some people want to focus on other stuff, doesn’t mean they’re exempt from having to fight but it should be possible for them to assign a lower priority when appropriate. If anything that could only open the way to further construct the other classes in such a manner that they become unattractive to rambo with.

And yeah I love area denial. Not enough tools are in place for that. However, area denial is incredibly difficult and sometimes just impossible to measure.

"However, area denial is incredibly difficult and sometimes just impossible to measure. "

it is with Echo

only class that should be concerned with kills is sniper, but he should also only get xp for area denial, not kills

As a statistic on a team-wide scale over countless samples yes. That’s the beauty of these problems. You’ll have to figure out ways to mimic the statistical worth and bring it to practice in real-time on an individual scale. It’s fascinating.

Echo runs real time

I suppose sniper rounds could say for instance, cause a moment penalty on contact or within a certain range of the target to put further emphasis area denial with score given for when this happens?

sniper provides area denial the same way mines and artillery do, reward as such

Not in a way that is relevant for this problem. It’s a database that gathers statistics so it only becomes valuable when you got a large number of samples to say something about the game as a whole. So if it has some really good fidelity and if the devs know how to deal with covariables and regression then you could for example say something about how useful a grenade launcher is in denying the opponent space in this and that location at such and such times.

To assess individual players however, it’s only useful as a point of reference to tweak the xp-distribution itself on. But that’s something else entirely than using it to tell how well one single player denied an area or did some other intangible thing.

kills don’t count for poop, ya gotta do em anyways

Maybe give more XP for skillshots done in these specific classes. (see http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/35367-XP-unlockable-achievements-Humor-required-xD)
