Would You Rather Have The Better-Looking Pre-Alpha Graphics Or The Graphics We Currently Have Today?

(aRagRappy) #21

I actually like how much detail there is in the environment in the alpha, though most of all I like the gun visual and sound effects a lot more than the current ones in game. Can definitely see why people would be concerned with that aesthetic being rather generic with how all of the other shooters out there look currently. Personally I would like to have an option added way down the line to use some of the older assets.

(Sinee) #22

I didn’t play pre-alpha, but judging from the video, uh… Yeah. That looks WAY sexier, gritty and more immersive… you feel the post-apocalypse. The UI can stay the same, but the graphics and effects are amazing. It looks so much more visually exciting than what we have now.
Geez, what we have now almost looks & sounds like a Wal-Mart version of DB compared to this footage, if this is raw and hasn’t been edited. wtf happened

(kittz0r) #23

who gives a fuck about graphics when the important thing is the gameplay?

(AirborneAsian) #24

Well, can you deal with 1990 graphics? Or play this game on min for the rest of lives your lives? I doubt it. Sure, gameplay is better, but having better graphics makes gameplay more enjoyable.

(Ghosthree3) #25

I sure can, Quake is still the best FPS game around and I actually really like the graphics in it, they’re not even that bad.

(Gi.Am) #26

@Volcano Oh man can you stop it, that stuff is nightmare inducing.

(srswizard) #27

Honestly I enjoyed the visuals more, when I was able to use configs that made textures of objects into a single color, because I really like simplistic design like that.
It helped with performance too.
Of course Dirty Bomb wouldn’t be what it is, if it was designed to be like that from the ground up.

I do also enjoy watching the game being played on high settings, but I can’t personally play like that, because of PC specs/optimization and other things.

Now I’m sort of stuck in the ugly middle ground, where I can’t go as low with settings, as I’d like to, but I can’t really go higher either.

How much does your computer cost?

Agreed, flattened single colour textures look amazing in fps games, as shown in low graphics configs for Quake. Funny that I feel that way because I absolutely loath ‘flat’ design.

No offense, but when you used to have the aura picture you feel a lot more aggressive, and I legitimately feel like I have no control over you. Now now with THAT picture, all I think of now is sugar and candy and chubby girls.

My specs are:
i5 3570K 4GHz
GTX 670
RAM 16,0Gt Single-Channel DDR3 @ 686MHz
SABERTOOTH Z77 mobo
SSD for OS and a couple of favorite games + a couple of 1TB HDDs for storage

The total must’ve been 1200€ ish at the time of purchase.

It’s outdated, but not exactly a toaster.

(Ghosthree3) #32

Damn it, I should have kept the black girl who don’t need no man for attitude. Also, ewww chubby girls.

Also pic related for what I said above, http://i.imgur.com/Sp9AChG.jpg

Well you can get Alienware Alpha which is $549 US dollars (If your not a money spender) and play this game smoothly in max settings.

(AirborneAsian) #34

@Ghostthree3 Wait… seriously? 360 hrs and still lvl 11? I’m lvl 11 but with 105 hrs. Nothing. That’s your steam lvl.

(Ghosthree3) #35

Yes, because committing value suicide for junk is worth it.

(srswizard) #36

I uhh, doubt that.

I have it. In fact, i’m using it right now in my comfort of my couch and tv.

(titaniumCrouton) #38

I’m not voting but I honestly like how the pre-alpha looks. I’m just not a fan of cartoony graphics like the current iteration of DB has…and the Pre-alpha animations in that video were a hell of a lot better than what we currently have (most namely the gun’s animations) so i’m actually kinda sad now…

meh. v-v oh well.

(Ghosthree3) #39

He’s not necessarily lying, he said play smoothly not play at high fps. Many people consider 30fps smooth, many more consider 60fps smooth.

EDIT: It’s a console, so it’s playing at 30fps.

EDIT2: Might not be a console? Some page said it was. Fucking Alienware pushes buzzwords so much harder than raw data so it’s hard to value their shit. Wouldn’t wish their products on my worst enemy.

(AirborneAsian) #40

@Ghosthree3 How the F Did you get Fking 36000 points??? But I got 40,000* just then. I did the Aura E.V exploit with a bunch of other people. I’ll never do it again, I feel very bad for doing that. Don’t wanna be unfair to other players.
