{[WIP]} - My Map Without A Name

(DWM|Commando) #21

hmmm, i think texture usage is a bit odd, many textures dont look like they work together good. gives a very un-natural look in many places. But in-game shots would be better.

I agree with commando, the textures look very bland and you shouldn’t overuse a single texture, like the floor to the main courtyard

Ok, could be interesting. With the info you have now provided it could be a nice raid map. Can’t comment too much as I have had trouble lining up some of the screenies you have provided against the scanned plan. The plan looks intriguing and “appears” to be some nice big cliff tops with fortified definsive points.

I’m still puzzled over the choise of a hostage type rescue. I havn’t seen anything like this in ET. CS and CS:S support this but not in ET so good luck on that front altough, to me, it’s not a WW2 type objective. Maybe you would be better making this some sort of scientific research retrieval or radar parts. Could be commando unit goes in to remove/destroy radar to allow a large landing force to follow.

I assume the “bland” look to the textures is only temporary and bascially has occured to allow people to understand the screenshots a little better.

Nice work, keep it up.

Yeah the thing with the mountains is that i tried to make some in Fate but when i tried to load it in radiant it didnt load.
and the textures im still working on, and since this is my first map i dont think that it will be too good but im going to try.

I have been thinking about the hostage and i think it would be considered more of a mod(and i cant do C++) so im trying to think of something else to do.

I will post updates soon as i can, thanks Eddie

(carnage) #25

a hostage escort is actualy quite posible but if its your first map i then i would surgest changing your objectives to a doc steal or something like that

How are you suggesting to do the hostages? Can you actually mix bots in this, or what are u thinking of? The hostages in CS run after you no matter where you go… i really wonder how you r going to do that in ET. You could do models move along a path like a vehicle though, but that s not really realistic and makes it too easy to shoot the hostages down for the “terrorists”.
For terrain, you could try EasyGen with a heightmap, its simple and never let me down.

Did you use 0.13? Or 0.12?
Can you send me the .ftm and the generated .map file for debugging, please?
You can find my e-mail address in the about box or on the fate homepage… I don’t want to post it here because of the spam bots.
