Who Had the Bright Idea To Remove These?

seems I missed the call on first pic, it’s from an old ad from closed beta not alpha back when it was still called Extraction

INB4 LOCK

It was from Closed Beta. No NDA here!

But that Javelin picture though…

1st. NDAs are a joke.
2nd. Vidya industry has an unhealthy boner for collectible cards, and we have to suffer because of it.

There is probably some technical reason why they’re not doing it. And by technical I mean they want to stick to their card cosmetic system…or something. I don’t know. Honestly, in the long run, equipable cosmetics would be more financially beneficial than this card cosmetic system, though no reason you can’t use both. Use the cards as a basis and have items that change the models. I think that’s what they’re testing with their trinket system. By next year we could have a cosmetic system similar to TF2 (though I’m hoping for something closer to GW2).

Seperating skins from loadouts would allow for these “merc outfits” to be applied to specific loadouts and make skins a tradable commodity (because nobody will buy your 181 CW Sparks card).

Dirty Bomb used to be a lot more CoD-like in cosmetic and custom classes terms but just with teamwork. I’m guessing making a bunch of skins and stuff isn’t their main concern right now. They may expand on the loadout system and bring this all in because as we all know, the loadouts are meant for balance purposes, most likely due to custom classes allowed everyone to make the similar classes with the strongest possibility. But I’m pretty sure these will make a return in the future.

@srswizard I laugh at players who take video game NDAs seriously especially when the people invited to closed testing are chosen at random or even have a buy in option. It’s not your job to police other players. Sit your regular ass down and test the game. You aren’t special for playing a video game before other people do. It’s like being around a child that tells on you for saying a bad word.

(Grave_Knight) #29

Might not be their main concern but with only two mercs left in backlog (and a handful of maps) it’s probably a high priority (if a priority at all). This is why I suspect trinkets might be them testing cosmetic customization. Start off small at first, something they can get away removing for a little bit if there is any technical problems, than work on bigger changes.

However, till Aimee and Turtle are finished we probably won’t see any of those bigger changes. The same team working on their models are the same team that would be working on a cosmetic system.

I liked loadouts at first - they seemed to be trying something different, and I liked that. But now, I just feel like they’re holding me back from trying new things with mercs. Since I can’t just swap out a weapon and have to find a whole new loadout card with the augments/side/whatever that I want, I tend to just stick with the loadouts I consider the best. Yeah, you’ll undoubtedly have some lead or whatever with one of each weapon at some point, but it’s not exactly the simplistic “swap in X weapon” that other games use.

Honestly, just having the loadout as your flair that shows up when you kill someone and allowing more switching in and out of weapons and augments would be much nicer. I’m fine with measures to stop specific combinations of augments if that’s what they want, but the system on a whole is just unfriendly.

It also does a terrible job at catering to skins, since it tacks them on to playing the impossible RNG game. Trinkets now equip to guns - I’d like to see weapon skins doing the same. …and more interesting weapon skins.

Agreed. If I could at least choose the primary weapon on a loadout card, that would be amazing. Of course, the skins and loadouts still need seperating, but I think that’d make the loadouts cater better to people who like a particular loadout’s augments but not the weapon.
