What weapon class do you think you will be using?

(Atavax) #21

no, you relegated certain weapons to spammy weapons. they said if you have a hard time against said weapons, get better against them. they didn’t say practice spamming against spam.

(trigg3r) #22

snipers and shotguns are allways my weapons of choice in any game, and since there ain’t any sniper in brink ill have to go with shotguns.
ill probably be forced to use assault rifles in some maps though

(DarkangelUK) #23

Has it been mentioned or not if you run faster with the pistol in hand as apposed to your main weapon ala ETQW? Be nice to know.

(Humate) #24

^ Yes it has been asked, and they said that they didnt include that game mechanic.
Although the question was asked a very long time ago, so it may have changed.

get educated by 1-2% of the gaming community ?

nope, how about you get educated by the game developers, you know, the guys with the money and
time invested. Play their game, it’s called Brink, it’s not part of the CoD franchise

(Kardec) #27

I doubt you speak for the entire competitive community of those games…

(Bullveyr) #28

I don’t have enough info to say if it will be ARs, SMGs or Rifles but most likely not Shotguns and Heavy Weapons.

(Kardec) #29

Actually quite suprised that so far, I am the only one that would choose to use the rifles most of the time

(Nail) #30

actually he probably does, but as they are less than 2% of the gaming community their incessant whining about OP this and that does very little, they will also moan about no pro-mod the day of release, claiming without the comp teams the game will go totally unnoticed.

blah, blah, blah

when these so-called pros decided no-one made the proper game for them, they said “We’ll build our own”, that was 5 years ago, the game is called “Severity” ever play it ?
nope, no publisher would touch it

btw, me for an AR w/drum mag

I think you are talking about TWL lol
SD have strong roots in comp PC FPS gaming, there is nothing wrong with customizing options in a game to make it Pro-mod, it simply removes or adds the immersion tools that aren’t necessary when playing comp. Just creates a level playing field, nothing to whine about.

I voted SMG but i saw the accuracy on the AR on another thread, they look secksy

(Nail) #32

nope, CPL

I know SD’s roots, I’ve been here for a while and have a little W:ET fansite, but I don’t give a rat’s ass what the “comp” community wants, it’s always the same, nerf game until it’s a glorified arena DM.

“The game needs a hardcore mode with strict limits on weapons I can’t counter”

like I said, get a dedicated server and set your own limits, don’t ask SD to build a special game for you

(Weapuh) #33

That’s a lot oversimplified really, but to each their own

And ugh, CPL their Cyberathlete Professional League sounds annoying

(madoule) #34

hit the nail on the head! (no pun intended) that’s the beauty of pc gaming! you should post it as well in the map- and game-modes thread…

(Thundermuffin) #35

I’ll probably use the assault rifles unless there’s a huge, huge speed reduction compared to carrying an SMG. In that case I’d switch to SMGs for sure.

Let’s be honest here there’s very few (I’d say just a couple really) developers that make a game that is good when played in vanilla. Does it really bother you so much if some of us play with restrictions and limits? No one asks you to play with us (unless you’d like to and then we’d welcome you) so don’t get so up tight about it, please.

Donkey doesn’t speak for all of us because most of us want to help everyone and better the gaming experience for everyone (that means pub and comp players alike) and don’t act egotistical like you all make us out to be. We just play to have a great time in a more serious setting and even then we’re trying to have bundles of fun and giggles.

[/QUOTE]

You think there’ll be big movement speed penalties? or talking about body-types related thing? That would make AR less lovable then :frowning:

(Thundermuffin) #37

I don’t really think it’ll be that big; maybe like a few steps slower every now and then, but I don’t want to take an AR that is roughly comparable to an SMG and take a hit in speed because of it especially if the guns shoot straight. I’d rather be faster and weaker than slower and stronger, but that’s just my playstyle.

(Weapuh) #38

We’ll have to wait and find out  It will probably depend on the map, I’m sure I’ll favor smg in tight corridors. over AR

(Jess Alon) #39

It’d be cool if they did the same with shotties. Heavier damage slow reload slow movement and switch it off with faster rate of fire light damage fast movement medium reload. And then there’s the heavy auto shottie SLOW SLOW movement slow reload HEAVY DAMAGE high rate of fire. If a heavy with an auto shotty gets close or you get close to him you’re screwed.

(Humate) #40

Yeh, this mechanic isn’t in the game.
You can be a heavy with an smg and a pistol if you like, but you will still be moving at the default speed of that bodytype.
