Vengeance Obsidian pack priced down

(Jesus) #61

I fear that I am missing the point there

(Rjsto) #62

I don’t have a problem with the fact it would be a bit more expensive in Finland for example, since 15€ is what I paid for it here. Just the fact that it got cheaper after I already had bought it

(Naonna) #63

Maybe I’m alone in this, but… I don’t care about the change. - I enjoy the game enough that paying five dollars extra doesn’t seem horrible. I’m one of those oddities who play games for fun: not for rank. - If giving the devs five extra dollars means we don’t have a Loadout-style game-crash, then I’m all for it.

(Jesus) #64

I would be fine paying that if the card i was gonna receive wouldnt be defined by what mercs the bunch of noob likes to play. Aka Proxy.

(noobtia) #65

If I remember right, I paid 14,99€. And I’m a Finn. :frowning: I don’t mind that much, but it’s strange.

Ok, Jesus, brace yourself, here comes the math. But this will be a very averagemath, so don’t worry, I’m not going to bore you

You have problem with the fact, that people living in other counties have the same thing for lower price, even tho we all pay in euro. I saw people from Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Poland confirming the obsidian case costed 12 euro and people from Germany, Netherlands, Finland and… from whenever you are, that it costed 15 euro.

As you pointed out, we all pay with the same currency, but not all of us earn money in this currency:

Blue - countries using euro,
red - EU countries using their national currency.

As you can see, in blue counties you have to pay 15, in red 12 euro for the same case. Coincidence?

And there is a map showing average monthly salary in european counties:

All salaries were given in euro, even tho, as we already know, some counties don’t use this currency. As you can see, for example, average Dutch is paid 2158 euro while average Pole is paid 756 euro (=3250 Złoty, polish national currency). So, an average Dutch is 2.8 richer? Not so fast. There’s this thing called purchasing power parity, informing us, how much can we get for our money in our country. What we’re interested in is this:

Price leves. Prices in US = 100, other counties are compared to that. As you can see prices are the lowest in Poland (51), and in Netherlands they are 102, so Dutch have to pay a little more than Americans for things they buy in their country, while Poles pay twice less than Dutch.

In other words, average Pole is getting paid 2.8 less than average Dutch, but he can buy twice as much for the same money. That is, as long as this Pole stays in Poland and pays in Złoty. Because living in Poland is cheaper. When an average Dutch decides to visit Poland taking his salary with him, he will be two times richer than in Netherlands. But what happens, when an average Pole comes to Netherlands with his salary? That’s right. As long as he pays in euro, he is two times poorer than when he pays in Złoty.

And now imagine, that we can’t pay in Złoty on Steam, because this currency is not supported. We have to pay in Euro. Is it still “plain unfair” that we have the same thing cheaper?

(n-x) #67

@Beryl Damn, according to this list for you Poles it is even more expensive than for us Germans.

(Jan S.) #68

Just went to german Gamestop to look at the price of Battleborn game.
Its 50€ for DVD and 50€ for Steam key.
Here is the fun part: On Steam for Czech republic, it costs 50€ also, because Steam doesn’t care about these “regions” that much.
But, in our game store(xzone), the game (with steelbook included) costs 41€. (This version is also 50€ on German Amazon).
So, it is actually cheaper for us to purchase DVDs, which doesn’t make any sense, because in case of DVD, we pay for disc, game key AND preorder bonus. In case of Steam version, we pay the same price only for the game.
Even through I’m not going to buy Obsidian pack, I’m happy that Dirty Bomb’s devs care about different “regions” and offers us different prices.

(Jaso) #69

i’m from Bulgaria and i took it during first day for 10.99€

(BazBling) #70

Mnnnnnn Hmmmmmnnnn… Purchasing Power Parity, ‘working as intended’ ty.

(Glot) #71

i payed 5 euros

(Docta) #72

Got it for 10.99 € here in Estonia in the first Day

(FalC_16) #73

me too, got it for 10.99 in Slovakia

(undergroundViolin) #74

Sweden day 1 14.99€.

(feigenstaub) #75

Maybe anyone found a way to get the prices from other regions?
That would make me spend more money for Dirty Bomb. With current prices (EU1/Germany) I am not willing to buy normal stuff like cases. Only bought the special skullsplitter trinket and the totally overpriced obsidian card (Aimee doesn’t count)

(MisterMurder) #76

@Beryl Yep you are right. Here in Bulgaria we use lv. One lev is equal to ~0.50 euros. So here we actually pay twice as much as you do.

@Jesus

If you hate that poorer countries have prices lower than yours, come over here. I will gladly swap with you. You will work for €500 a month while I will migrate to your country to live for at least €2000. If you think that we are so spoiled, test life in Eastern Europe yourself.

And yet in many cases our prices are not adjusted. For instance, games on Steam like Witcher 3 is 1/5 of my salary.

Of course food and apartaments are cheaper than in your motherland but I would still prefer to pay more for food rather than worrying that anything else costs me most of my salary.

Please, come over. Earn €500 and you can enjoy a cheap beer for €0.5, bread for €1, McDonald’s standard burger for €1 but nothing beyond that.

we are getting screwed because we live in a certain country that is supposed to have higher standard of life thats just plain discrimination thats what it is. They overcharging us just based on the country in which we live.

They do not overcharge you. Actually you still pay a lesser value. To you €15 is at worst 2 working hours as a cleaner. To us €15 is 6 working hours for the same job.

To you a difference between €15 and €10 is minimal. It’s a difference of one bread loaf. To us it’s a difference of 4 bread loafs.

If you still think it’s unfair for you, please leave your country and live here.

(MisterMurder) #78

Totally agree with you @p4v. And btw the McDonald’s standard burger here in Bulgaria is 1lev or 0.5€

What the fuck thats exactly the mentality I was criticizing, “you live in that country you have higher standards”, thats like everywhere we got some poor people and some richer one.
Right now I have two brothers who dont even have a revenu and they live on saving and money I give them so keep your moralization for you.
5€ is around 5 bread here with five Euro I can eat for a day, with 15€ I can eat for three days maybe four if I manage it well and if i had 1€ macdonalds here i could sure hold one more day. Here you can fucking dream to find a correct apartement for less than 300 a month. You’re thinking like those migrants who thinks we all shit on golden toilet here.
That’s just pure bullshit… You just illustrate what I said perfectly, “you live there you can pay more” yeah not really we are not all some Rothschild people here and even though Im comfortable on my revenu not everyone is, this you can pay more logic is bullshit.
If you think its good here just try and come you’ll end like most of the migrants do, living in DIY tent on the side of the highway. There is about 10% of the population not working.
There is no cleaner job or such available the best you could find without diploma or experience is a MacDonald employee given that you can speak the language. If you cant the only job you will find in France is drug dealer or Foreign Legion if they deem you worthy of it. Its completely stupid to think everyone in the west have it easy.
And its not about the lost money, on my revenu i dont fucking care of 5€, its the principle of it. They are charging more certain people cause they assume those people can afford it because of geographical location and thats utter bullshit.

(p4v) #80

They are charging more certain people cause they assume those people can afford it because of geographical location and thats utter bullshit.

Splash Damage is not the only one. Even big companies such as Bioware/EA do that. Subscription for SWTOR normally cost $15 but in my country it’s for $8. They charge others less to squeeze their pockets in order to gain a better revenue. That’s the philosophy of this business. Set up the price too high, you risk that people will deem it not worth the amount of money they had to work hard for. If they kept the same price for everybody their number of customers would drop eventually.

You’re thinking like those migrants who thinks we all @$!# on golden toilet here.

No, I do not. Firstly, I don’t migrate. I’m trying to do my best in my motherland. Secondly, it is obvious that not everyone in France is a Richie Rich but I’m stating the facts that your lowest salary is €1,466 while in my country it’s €434. You won’t convince me that a French McDonald’s employee would agree on €434-€500, would he?

I will repeat again. If you are so frustrated by the situation in your country, come over here. You will surely agree on the salary three times smaller than your current one.

To turn the tables on you - if you think that lowering price for items in other countries is unfair, how it is fair that you get three times as much for the same job? It has nothing to do with discrimination. It’s just business and economic factors that influence those. The only problem here is you being such a pain. You complain about decreased price of an item for others while you happily take increased salary than others for the same job and effort. Kinda hypocritical.
