Variety in vocal cues

vocal synthesis in game engines i surely must be in “to do” lists in all engines developers[ie, UE, CE, IDt &others].
point is, usually lack of horsepower of customer PC, limited that previously from happen.
as well as lack of procedurally generated animation, textures, physics, good AI and etc.
but now, yes, good time to start move forward a bit.

It’d be REALLY awesome if there was at least 4 variations on each accent so that if there where about 4 guys playing with an american accent they wouldn’t all sound identical. I think that would be high quality. And can we have a 9th accent that just sounds “dumb” for guys that WANT you to know they are playing a heavy and they are trying to stereotype? Or it’d BE really cool if there was a Heavy/Medium/Light version of each accent. That would be awesome because if you learned what they sound like you’d know who was talking if you knew your team well.

This sounds cool, and feasible. Like different pitches or octaves, depending on bodytype.

Doesn’t even require 3 recordings per accent, you can simply pitch-shift them a little. Dunno if that’d sound right, but it’s fun to try anyway

I want a system akin to ARMA2, where you select a voice set and then modify a pitch to your liking.
Of course not gonna happen, but still.

in Idea/BIS games you can only alter pitch of you [pre-rendered]voice ingame.
after choose pre-recorded voices[&face/googles/f hair/camo&etc].
other aspects of voice synthesis is untweakable.
and there is plenty of possibilities. unexplored yet.

i think all this vocal/message thing will be fine.

  1. it s pretty helpful, especially when you play with people you dont know. and you re always aware what s going on

  2. imo it adds to immersion when soldiers actually talk to each other. 16 Gordon Freemans on the battlefield doesnt seem right
and the fact that you have different accents makes it even better.
