It can be annoying, especially when comp is a cesspool of hackers (and low levels tell me to piss off to comp where I belong apparently). Pub matches are usually a lot less hacker-infested. I’ve only seen a couple handfuls of hackers in 400hrs of gameplay in pub matches.
I would suggest to you going to the minimum level 10 servers if you can take the heat, since most of the regular lobby’s will trash talk you for playing with people under level 10. That’s of course if it bothers you. Normally I just trash talk them back.

I would play comp in a heart beat if it wasn’t broke and infested with cheats. Even lvl 10 lobbies are hard to come by and my friends are still only lvl 8 and 9 so they can’t join me even when I do find a server :(. I had some American guy that wanted to fight me…No im serious, he said he would hope on a plane and I quote, ‘Kick my fat ass’. All for being a lvl 18 and whooping his ass.

If you’re playing with your buddies and having fun, it doesn’t matter if some loser cries on the other team.
And that’s hilarious. You know that guy doesn’t get laid much.

Personally, I don’t feel as if I’m that good at FPS, so I find regular pubs challenging enough. But even if I get a negative K/D or a bad score, they still say I’m pubstomping. Oh well! lolol
@litheJacket I am curious as to exactly what you disagreed with in my post. Was it my viewpoint on the value of levels in DB or that you don’t agree that it’s a constant source of ridicule for people?

Yeah its silly really. I have over 200 hours so its only natural i’ll get to the lvl i’m at. As a wise man once said, ‘They hate us, coz they ain’t us’.

It’d be amazing to be able to hide your level. While the insane amount of verbal abuse solely due to your playtime is amusing, the in-game actions can get annoying.
Especially since levels mean very little. I am actually rather confused as to why we have levels in the first place, and why they are shown to others. Have I missed something?
All the personal rewards (early extra credits and whatnot) could surely be done by a personal xp or play-time counter? Just like how the regular cases are handed out?
@Daergar I agree. I was in a match today with a lvl 57, and the teams’ immediate resolution to this apparent problem was “vote kick him!”

I disagreed with this part. Im +20 level and whenever i sucks ppl attack me too but who cares? I played 9 match with 30/5 kd but 10th match ended with 5/30 and they says me worst 25 level in the game who cares? Sometimes im listening music and playing only melee or sticky bombs and end game with bad score and dont care whatever they say. But still i think should be thing shows im experienced than others like level system.
I doubt any1 is getting 40-50k consistently. On a stopwatch game getting 90 kills and using skyhammer ( a lot of support exp ) I only got just over 38k exp. It’s very possible if you go on a map with a EV, Chapel / Bridge ( I played on Trainyard ) and do the obj / Kill the EV a bunch of times and everything falls into place. But you are not going to get it consistently by any means.
Getting 84 Kills with Aura / Reviving healing every1 ect, only got me 24,748 Exp.

I’m still getting this all of the time too…I continue to try to just ignore it but after hearing it almost every time I play, it’s just really annoying. I’m still 100% for hiding or getting rid of levels.
Just last night I had a team mate, He was commenting on my level and such and I think he had this expectation that he was going to get carried to an “ez” victory. Well, I guess I fooled him! We got rolled by the opposing team and I guess my score or k/d didn’t live up to his lofty expectations so he accused me of some sort of xp exploit to get to my current level.
(we’ve got enough exploits/cheats in the game right now so I’m not going to repeat it)
I tried to assure him that wasn’t the case and explained the whole closed beta deal but I think it fell on deaf ears.
I like being able to show my level, but I don’t mind if they implement an option to hide it. There’s no real benefit to showing it, so I see no reason why people shouldn’t be able to hide it.

Yup, it’s pretty annoying. I usually just say I played in closed beta and stats didn’t reset and leave it at that. If they continue then I don’t really care. I try not to pay attention to chat too much.

I couldn’t care less about the chat. It’s the vote-kicking half-way through the game by agitated cretins that ruin the fun. Completely unnecessary issue forced upon anyone actually still playing DB after a few hundred hours.
I suppose it’s solving itself since the player-retention seem to be failing due to the usual boredom and the complete and utterly rampant infection of cheaters; fewer high-level players sticking around.
