Trees are .tga?

(Benfun7) #21

I have no back up. Is there any thing I can do?

(Benfun7) #22

Jizaboz’s Idea did not work.

(Benfun7) #23

I can load my map into Wolf ET.

(SCDS_reyalP) #24

Backups are good.

If you had automatic backups on there might still be one. Try autosave.map, autosave.bak and <yourmapname>.bak.

Copy them to safe place first.

You can try poking around in your map with a text editor. Again, save a copy somewhere first.

ET loads the .bsp, not the map file. So that doesn’t help you. You can decompile the bsp (using q3map2, there should be a thread in this forum or the q3map2 one that gives you the exact command) but the results are messy.

(Benfun7) #25

Ok I fixed it. What I did was opened my .map file with note pad and deleted the bad brush and it fixed it!

Thanks,
Fritz!

As for the trees, many of the original models are not included, since misc_models get baked into the bsp file. So you are only left with the .tgas that are still needed to texture them. No need to re-install et, they are either in the .pk3 or not. If there was something wrong with the .pk3 you wouldn’t be able to play on other servers.

So what can I do to make trees if they are not there?

Thanks,
Ben

(Benfun7) #27

Ok I down loaded the Original Radiant just messing around and now the tree files show up. Now my problem is… How do you make the trees solid so you cant just walk through them?

Thanks,
Ben

(CrazedFan) #28

Just draw a CLIP bursh around the trunk and make it a detail brush.

(thore) #29

nah, don’t use the simple clip… that one does only block player movement but it still allows other entities to
go trough. this applies especially to bullets, panzerfausts, grenades… and when hiding behind a tree you
could expect a little bit of cover

nope, i’m not gonna tell you which clip texture to use instead :stuck_out_tongue:

(in return for triple posting instead of editing your posts. i’m soooo mean. hrhr.)

(SCDS_reyalP) #30

There is no real reason to make them detail. trans shaders are detail by default. However, you may find it nice to have them filter with details.

(Benfun7) #31

Ok dont mean to sound dumb I am still learning but what is a detailed brush?

(thore) #32

http://www.nibsworld.com/rtcw/tutorial_detail_and_hint_brushes_part1.shtml

also try google.com or even the forum search

(Benfun7) #33

I dont mean to sound dumb I am still new to this. What is a detailed brush? What is a clip brush? Is a clip brush the one from the common folder?

(nUllSkillZ) #34

Clip brushes are brushes that are textured with one of the “common/clip…”-textures.

(Benfun7) #35

I am retarded I did not mean to post that two times. I did not see it cause I did not know there were two pages.

(Benfun7) #36

And thank you guys so much for your help!!!

(Benfun7) #37

Ok I put the detailed brushes around my tree. But they are not invisible? How do I make them invisible?

(nUllSkillZ) #38

Just texture the brushes with a clip texture.
Choose clipweapon.
It clips everything.

(Benfun7) #39

Ok thanks
