Throwing knives was an Augment, the main problem was that after two knives were thrown there was an invisible reload timer similar to that of an ability with no explaination as to how long you’d have to toss another knife.

Knifes had a weird way of working as they went straight foward and maybe weren’t even a projectile or had ballistic trajectory, affected by gravity but that said they only did the damage of a Beckhill left mouse slash and couldn’t be used as a regular knife, so player’s were to sacrifice the practicality of a melee knife for a tossed one that one could use as a reverse Sparks to execute enemies at a distance or a very unrewarding amount of damage at a distance with 2 unseen charges with an unseen cooldown.[/quote]

Ooooh, I never knew that.

Also by the look of some old console commands, the grenade launcher was once an actual weapon rather than relying on a cooldown needed to be loaded and reloaded at a max of 6 a mag with 30 spares, by the sound of some of Rhino’s lines when reloading, he might have had to reload his minigun.

Not to mention you only got two of them so you could easily not have enough to gib people in the areas.

I like the concept but hate the execution. The vertical drop, the slow travel time, the limited amount you could throw and the small amount of damage they did was just awful. Quick slash is the augment that replaced Throwing Knives and it’s far more useful.

Just had a thought. What if every merc from each class was merged together, leaving only five mercs.

Recon - Cloak plus a Heartbeat Sensor that allows you to see the outlines of people thru walls and explodes on command.

Medic - Self revive, REVIVR gun as a primary, the ability to throw down medpacks that healed people just being around them.

Assault - Full-auto Mini-Gun Nade Launcher and the secondary ability to use a rocket launcher that shoots rocket flashbangs.

Engineer - Turret that shoots bullets and manually detonated bombs, also explodes when you get too close to it. Is surrounded by a shield at the front.

Fire Support - Artillery designator that calls in an airstrike, the laser from the designator also sets the ground on fire. Ammo packs resupply teammates by being around them.

What madness have I thought up?

While Dazzler not only had the MK46, he had the M4A1 as a secondary, every merc had frag grenades but he had both flashbangs and frags

Thunder was similar,Thunder had before being given pistols the hochfir was his secondary.

At some point Vasilli had cloak and the Felix, layer Phantom had both the Felix, cloak and a katana.

Console commands show the grenade launcher at some point needed ammo and Rhino reload lines suggest he needed to reload his minigun so you can just imagine what that would be like between a health and ammo station.

@Shinywindow you’re now making me think what every merc fusion would look like… Rhino+Nader and Bushwhacker+Turle would be awesome.

@Rjsto this is what happens if all the assaults touch butts, I mean backpacks.

I miss the crazy fast paced gameplay, and the old Nader, she was faster, stronger (more hp and no Crotzni nerf)), up to 6 grenades with Spares augment: more lethal. o:)

A Merc, permanently invisible and intangible except for short-lived bursts of reappearance. These would be the only times this Merc would be allowed to interact with the world beyond movement. To reappear into the world in a tangible form, he would build up as much energy as he could by waiting and moving, and then use it to overcome his own intangibility. This hypothetical Merc would then run around, causing as much destruction and mayhem as possible, before using his remaining energy to set off an explosion around himself and slip back into whatever void he came from.

A merc that was really big and had 420 hp and 500 movement speed and frag grenades that had frag grenades coming out of them and a really long sword that could be used as a sniper rifle and a self reviving ability that activated every 5 seconds and they could see through walls and could hit through walls as well but only with the sword and rocket boots so they could jump on top of the map and had self targeting lazer beams coming out of its ass.

I listened to all voice lines of the mercs, and I found out Proxy used to have cloaking abilities like Phantom does.

She has exactly the same quote that Phantom has, or a bit different.

I heard that Phantom back in Alpha had infinite cloak and a charge ability that could basically stomp a whole team.
Is that true?
