The competitive spectator overlay & features

totally agree. when it occured to me about using heat type map ingame. i thought there’s no way you could cram all that you use now into the game.
all game info could be stored externally (stats server) and could calculate and render that info anyway you want.

but to save cpu and still be able to see something ingame then just a trace of the players route by only 10-40 footsteps.
like a very detailed arrow. adjustable distance if longer steps needs more cpu.

so only storing the last few steps of the players and displaying the positions. and maybe only for specs and not limbo so as not to impact on the game. also so players dont try and use it as a playable feature as this could change the game dramatically maybe.

i think to be able to see clearly a move of several players on a position would be exciting to watch along with a headcam view.

This sounds promising. I’m sure you’ve taken a hint from the tribes speccing system:
using shortcuts to snap the camera to set positions (objective areas)
when in freefly and clicking, move to first person spec of whoever you are looking at
also:
a quick way to change camera speed would probably be useful
slow motion rendering when viewing demo’s for videomakers
rewind!

as for the split screen: I think I saw a Tribes cast where the caster had a small subscreen on his stream that showed a different camera position. No idea how he set that up thouhg, that isn’t Tribes functionality as far as I know. Really cool for showing a capper and his stand at the same time. Might not be as useful in the context of DB, I’ll leave that to the casters to decide

…XSplit

This is just a wish list, not a ‘must have’ list.

Instant replay option… can jump back 20 seconds with the option of slow-mo as well.
Clean-screen view, the option to completely disable the overlay if you’re freecamming.
Team status on screen. You can be spectating 1 person but be able to see the rest of the team’s health and position listed at the top right.
Kill tracker like CoD. It pinpoints on the timeline where the kills were, makes it easier to jump to those points.
Option for casters to draw on-screen?

Awwww, instant replay … me wants this so baaaad!

Instant replay with the ability to reverse playback and go slow motion would make for some great viewing.
