Yeah that’s the Rooster Teeth guys, they did the Projectile Dysfunction vid and others for ETQW.
Suggestions for upcoming gameplay videos
Uuhhh yeah. Considering there are multiple game modes, why not have a video showing off what’s unique to them rather than just say “This is standard fare TDM” since it isn’t?
If SD is having multiple modes it’ll be good to show them all off. Given SDs last games have all had only one mode this is going to be an important point to drive home too.
If they can make those modes a little more original too then even better.
I think it’ll be a bit hard to differentiate between TDM and objective, especially if you show them both off in the same video.
Right so show them off in different videos lol. I’m sorry I thought this was the “Suggestions for upcoming gameplay videos” (plural) thread? Not the “Let’s see what we can show off about objectives in one mega video” one.
I think the best thing to do is to highlight why this game is good and not another campy shooter.
Something like this:
Note the newbie player in its natural habitat.
Scene 1:
Player A runs forward, stops to shoot player B from behind. Player B quickly turns around and starts to strafe and pops player A who is standing still.
Scene 2:
Player A camps and shoots people with sniper, dealing bodyshots and targets run away. Player B gets hit, runs to cover and primes a grenade which explodes in player A’s face.
(Something catchy for objective play intro)
Scene 3:
Defenders have the gate on Waterloo Terminus and are placing turrets and mines and also some players camping with snipers. Attackers rush in with an airstrike on obj which clears the turrets and mines and possibly killing some defenders. The attackers quickly rush in with some primed grenades and quick shooting and clear the area. They plant it and start defending. The defenders manage to kill them off and start defusing, but nobody noticed a field opt placing artillery which then deals heavy damaeg. A firefight ensues, but the defenders manage to win it and start defusing. But there is little time left so they even double or triple up. Possibly ending with a cliffhanger, whether they got the defuse on time or not.
A gameplay video should display the diversity and unpredictability of objective play and demonstrate how better players win firefights.
i think a gameplay vid would be a great idea. once gameplay has got nearer to being finalised that is.

Totally agree with all you said murka. Especially the last sentence.
This is why I think having dev diaries or guest players would be a good idea when it comes to selling gameplay. Trying to get that sort of message across in some catchy artistic manner is going to be very difficult and may just confuse or fail totally.
Flash to sell the name, lengthy to sell the game.
Team up with a music producer to make a video clip for their new song. Medal of Honour got Linkin Park and CoD had Nine Inch Nails. For exclusive new singles but there’s a whole bunch of great but lesser known artists that would love to lend new material to a video of your game.
There’s a whole range of electronic geniuses that have a great affinity with video games. Madeon, DeadMau5 (‘Professional Grievers’) and especially Feed Me (‘One Click Headshot’) would be up for those kind of things.
See if they can make a song called ‘Dirty Bomb’. It’s just begging for it.
nearly right sock. though this IS named after the as yet unreleased level “Underground”. You know it’s comin’.
I wouldn’t argue against the use of either. I think the sound is really nice for the game.
Actually having watched the trailer again I can say the music sounds a little Brinkish too. Wasn’t a great fan of the Brink music myself, seemed very incidental, like it dare not invoke any emotion or drama, just sit at the back there.
+1. There are a lot players out there that like different games. Some like tactical, some like chaos (NUKETOWN–vomit), some like objective, and some like something in between. Since the game if f2p, SD marketing needs to show why someone with a particular taste should try out the game. It’s free. Even if they don’t find exactly what they want, maybe they will find something they didn’t know they wanted. Definitely one demographic to try to draw in are players that play COD objective modes and BC2/BF3 RUSH modes.
Also, once we get a bit further along how about just releasing some footage or a demo and allowing the alpha/beta testers to make their own video? Seems there are a lot of ideas around here, why not have a community video or videos to add to your marketing arsenal. Especially if you’re going to have some demo tools to show off.
