State your case: Autobalance in Public Matches? Yes or No?

I would do it like this to prevent ppl running from servers, making it unbalanced…

So, when you join server you get 50 credits for joining… Now if you leave server while in game you lose 100 credits, if you leave server while in lobby you lose your 50 credits and if you play lets say 3 matches on same server you get to keep your 50 credits… Something like that.

So we should be punished 50 credits because SD can’t figure out how to make balanced teams coming out of a lobby? I should be punished because when I join on a match that says 10/14 and find out that it’s 7vs3 and not 5v5? Punishing people for leaving unranked pub matches is counter productive.

It’s pretty simple, teams coming out of lobby should be based on points/min and k/d over their last X games and not prior W/L ratio. Next, if the match is in the first few minutes and teams are unbalanced numerically, shuffle and restart the map. If it gets imbalanced in the middle of the match, offer a bonus to someone for switching to the losing team. Finally, don’t allow shuffles if it’s in the last 5 minutes of the last stage.

Well of course I would also go with suggestion that game turns one player to opposite side if there is 2 players difference…

Moreover, you wouldn’t have joined 7v3 match if ppl weren’t leaving lobbies.

Check this situation… Poor level 6 guy joins lobby and is winning for the first time in day. He was trying and trying to get that first win of the day award. Poor level 6 guy became so happy now… Until… 2 players rage quitted in enemy team. Game auto-shaffles to make it balanced. And poor level 6 guy gets transfered in losing team. He feels sad now.

Did game balanced after transfering one guy to enemy team? Yes.
Was it fair for everyone? No.
Should players be punished? Yes.
Who was punished? Wrong guy (Poor level 6 guy)
Who should have been punished? 2 leavers.

He still gets credits regardless of the side he’s on.

No, autobalance systems implemented in any games very rarely work, and in fact can make things worse off for the losing team at worst, and be a massive annoyance to everyone affected at best.

Ill use probably one of the most known in the fps community examples of an annoying autobalance system that doesnt help is TF2.

At best, it annoyed some random bastard because he suddenly died and was put on respawn on the other team. At worst, it swapped the guy over to the other team after he delivered two intels and he lost because he was playing well, because fuck you.

Now auto SHUFFLE would be both of those, but possibly worse. Whenever shuffle votes do pass they often dont help, just skew the numbers to the other team, being just annoying

Remember everyone, always F2 vote shuffles because usually when theyre called its just someone saying WAAHHH IM LOSING

Hopefully once we get player run servers we can set up our own parameters and server side mods to run the game how we want. Again I will point to the very popular Battlefield series and there server rules to be authorized. There’s a lot of leeway without being game breaking as an authorized server.

I’m all for autobalance. I usually join the losing team anyways, and the shuffle vote never passes since the winning team all vote no.
It’s just really frustrating when you play stopwatch, and one team is just farming the other out of spawn, and then you’re forced to do it again in round 2, without any balancing of the teams.

Autobalancing as in switching over players when teams are unbalanced, say, one team only has 80% of the total players of the other team? I say yes.

Do I think balancing teams before hand should be based on parties, level, since that indicates time played, and elo, since that indicates raw ability? Yes.

Do I think this will fix all the game’s problems? No, cause this is a team based shooter, and nobody actually wants to work together.
