The original designs of the mercs are really cool, but they wouldn’t fit into the more comicy (for lack of a better word) style the game has compared to the alpha.

This is actually the background picture used for the game’s official Twitter account during the period where DB was called Extraction (before returning to Dirty Bomb). The mercs are the original Founders concepts which at the time were front and center on a lot of the promotional material (a bad idea and a bit of false advertising in my opinion since all these poster boys/girl would only be available to Founders…). The Founders skins you see in-game today are very similar, although Fragger (yes Fragger, not Dazzler) lost the skull markings on his helmet and Vas and Saw ended up with different heads.
Actually @Faraleth Skyhammer and Proxy haven’t changed much from the original design. Saw got a serious makeover and looks a lot older (and wiser B) ) in his current incarnation, and I have to say I really liked the old Fragger as well. Perhaps the Splash Damage CEO thought he looked a little too familiar though

These were the “regular” versions of the mercs at the time, as opposed to the Founders versions in the other pic further up.

Oh my god yes! Fragger looks so much better with his glasses! Maybe that’s why my frags are always off… damn contact lenses.

Thought I’d share these too. They are from in-game. The backgrounds used for when the new merc is released (for the main menu). They would make pretty sweet desktop wallpapers too! ^.^
