I tested the mod some days ago on the server. By testing I mean checking out the barracks menu and clicking a bit through the skins. There wasn’t much I could do else. Properly testing the mod (gaining coins/skills, buying skins, etc) doesn’t work, because the server is empty. Imo the server was the wrong environment to present your mod. Maybe you should contact a clan (DarkAlchemy, UJE, FA,…) so they host the mod and get their members and some regulars to play. Playing on an empty server is useless and I think that’s the only thing that went wrong. The mod (what I have seen so far) looks really great! And it would be a shame if you stopped (public) development!

Get the mod on a server with real people, so it can properly be tested and I think you will get the feedback this mod and especially your work, deserves.

Put it that way: i was drunk :smiley: Sometimes you get pissed in that state, but i still think it was the correct decission to take it down. I mean common: i go through all the hazzle and make a public version available, let the server run for a reasonable amount of time, and noone gives a ****. DUDES JUST NO. This is poisonous behaviour and i expected more of some people. Gave me a lesson about some members of this community.

And no, you had no time? The server was up long enough. I expected a bit more, not the world, but a bit more. And if there is nothing, well … conclusions drawn.

This is fully correct:

You should keep in mind that on Splash Damage forums there isn’t surely more than 5% of the ET community and many people not necessarily read every post here - I saw it for the first time yesterday, when it had 3 pages. And those who do, may be too busy to find time to play on empty server - you can’t blame anyone for this.

So getting in touch with a bigger community is the best way to go. For example the owner of the clan I’m in likes to test new or less known mods/maps and organises meetings - I think you were on the last Infected event. There were more than 30 people at on time for a while, but on other days, it’s quite empty too, unfortunately. Releasing a new mod is hard (ET community doesn’t have much people anymore). My mod don’t get visited this much too but I leave it up because it’s nice to have something different. Smurfers bastardmod and bullight doesn’t get visited much too even they are nice.
You should advise your mod on other sides too and I bet TeamMuppet can give you a public server if you want.

Release your codes to public if you still want to quit so it wont get lost and other mods may use it.

Anyways, i just registred a new account because i took notice of your mod somewhere.

I think the coin thing is a great, great idea. Your menu is also well done - very good :slight_smile:
If i would be collecting coins for some future features, i would love to return playing wolfet collecting coins.

An idea that pops to mind is to connect your mod to a sqlserver where the collected coins are stored. I would prefer Splatterladder.com since schnoog knows how to handle SQL and grabs the data. And backups it;)
Schnoog also may have interests to a coin system. Red Gold;)…dunno

Anyways, please keep up a test-server up so i can download the game and connect. I’m not always in the mood for wolfet;)

edit: for splatterladder this means it would have a coin system and could give it users extra stuff like…rewards as in STEAM… (i know, i play too much on steam…)

Hi Dota2Fan.

I am trying to understand your splatterladder coin idea. There are many problems involved with this. I am not going to get lost in the detail here. But i did not yet quite understand the purpose of this. You say “rewards as in STEAM”. What rewards? I am not frequent with Steam (last time i logged in was long ago, maybe with titanfall this will change again ;)).

Anyway: i need to know the purpose of all this. As said, there are many problems with this. But it maybe worth something cool, yes.

I just like the idea to store the coins at one place so that every server running your mod can get the coins he/she collected on other servers and spend it there.

Sorry about the splatterladder thingie, i did not think that one to the end. Beer is fault;)
Theoretically schnoog could make awards like “gold digger” etc…but thats just a stupid simple idea.

Having a coin system opens up a lot of ideas…

PS Do note: Most of the modders take feedback of players in a negative way and get defensive. My suggestion would be to stay calm and focused. Grab the best out of feedback and neglect the rest.

Same here. Also there is something very weird going on with the icons on the registration page in Chrome. They are 20x too big I think. You also have one of the hardest captchas I’ve seen and I suck at captchas so every time takes me about 3 tries. :smiley:

Well, just see this. I made a release once, do you remember sdk-plus? or even etplus? It was the same with these two. I carried on nevertheless, lol. But it was quite the experience how i was ignored, even in chat with some members. Like it would have no value at all. It was total ignorance!

So there comes my reaction from. See the new map by Kemon? No doubt a very cool map with visual quality. But people got into this very quick. They tested it. My stuff was again not to be tested, i put it up, noone connected. This is where my frustration came from.

Lot of people posted me PMs last days, so this keeps me doing the mod. Because pretty much all the fun is over and now i have to make it a stable experience, which is the boring part of it. I would have spared me that part, if noone is interested. I do not claim this mod to be the best, but it for sure is unique.

Anyway, just to clear that up. If i could close this thread now, i would close it :smiley:

If it’s not fun for you anymore then I’d suggest to just stop. You can still throw it on github and maybe somebody else can complete it / learn from it if you feel some kind of obligation towards the community.

Maybe later you’ll come back to it.

If you actually want to play it with people as already said approach a community / clan and ask them or try to organize an event (set a time & date for people to meet there). Or just spam people on xfire / steam until they connect :smiley:

As for your previous projects / all of your projects, they are all programming stuff. Not a lot of people have the knowledge to understand what you’ve done and how much effort it costs. So they (including myself) are limit to superficial feedback. As for whether I remember them… Just last week I suggested et sdk plus to somebody who was using the normal sdk. :tongue: So your efforts are definitely not forgotten (at least not by me)

Well, i kinda want to move on, but then at the same time, i want to see how certian gameplay changes turn out. Because, beside the char custom system, they are unique and imo also in the tradtion of ET. I have made a moddb page, check it out: http://www.moddb.com/mods/et-headquarters

I just have to get the last part going, then i it wil be ready. But before, i will do some work on twt-community mod :slight_smile: Which is also going to be fun in the future, for sure. But i won’t have so much time 6 days from now. Anyway, stuff will get released in april probably. It is actually done already, just have to make dem pics, you know, show all dem pics lol …
