Proxy making helmets for her team in the Blacksmith, that was upgraded from Bushwacker turret(placed near an ammo crate) by Fletcher.
i am not sure how i feel about disarm-progress bar to be removed.
-on the one hand it will make games less predictable, not everything will be on paper. ‘ok, they are defusing, i guess its time for a nade to that area!’
-on the other hand i find myself exited when defending 90% disarmed c4 from tap-disarm lemming. i also can make different actions when i know exact the time to defuse.
i.e.
5 seconds to detonate, medic running to a 0% disarmed c4 - i do not care. and watch out for proxy
5 seconds to detonate, medic running to a 50% disarmed c4 - i do care.
I think these can stay on pubs, which are largely disorganized and huge spamfests. But a 5v5 scrim, or even MM are considerably less chaotic, Imo it is much more exciting to push that format further into comp, by making players rely on communication and organized team tactics, rather than solo-ing everything, cause a single player is already provided with enough information.
Plus its annoying to start defusing any C4, or repair any secondary and know that you’ve become a huge target to the entire enemy team, everyone knowing what you’re doing and when you’re done.
I miss the ability to sneaky defuse while teammates are distracting opponents
I agree with most of the points raised. As mentioned, not all would work well in pubs, but for organised play it sounds very reasonable.
Alright ! We absolutely need some spawn time adjustment, server rental & maps !!
yeah own server for clans is crucial.
I even dont mind if rented servers will be unranked.
also… when I’m already in a party why do I have to click leave party in order to join another party? it should just assume that I want to leave my current party if I accept another parties invitation.
I think these guys just want to make a game like ET , but this is DB . [ No offense, there are very good rules raised , however there are others that only need to gain more advantage in their previous game ] . I am a player of ET AND QUAKE LIVE Progamer and I think the game is very balanced and that you are given a chance to avoid making any equipment spawncamping . [ Referring to spawntimer ] .
As for vassili , instagib shot is stupid .
Cheers

That’s like saying lets make a new car that has it’s lineage stemming with the Model-T but first lets reinvent the wheel. Splash Damage took simple solutions that just worked in RTCW/ W:ET and made them unnecessarily complex. Hence, Newb’s post.
For instance, while spawn camping did occur in W:ET even with the mixed spawn timers, it is much rarer as it requires not only having to physically see when the opposite team actual spawns but also learning to count and having previous knowledge of each map’s particular spawn times for both sides. In Dirty Bomb however you know exactly when your opponent is going to spawn in SW because they are exactly the same for both teams.
BTW I was also an W:ET programmer and a former W:ET NA alpha level competitor, and my 500+ hours in DB tell me otherwise.
But regardless of my worthless W:ET credentials, ever since this game has been in alpha players have been saying the same thing that Newb has.
While I agree with many points (definitely not all, e.g. the dynamite info is ok), you’re basically saying “let’s make DB a completely differrent game”. Do you really expect it to happen? Obviously not.
Show me where I said that. I think I rather clearly implied that all changes mentioned here altogether are way too extensive and demanding to be implemented in the stable product. Especially those that haven’t been touched for years or since the game was playable.
Of course you can even convert a goat simulator to an FPS in its late betas, it’s not impossible. But have you heard about stuff like “development costs”, “time” and “profitability”? SD devs won’t work 24/7 just to change nearly everything in the game, which may be hated even more afterwards, who knows. This is internet, some people are already complaining about adding a possibility to rent community servers on this forum (!), you’ll never make everyone happy.
Such as? I’m sorry but most of the things I’ve suggested don’t even touch any of the “game features” to begin with. The only thing that comes even close to “turning this into a different game” is removing a simple hud feature.
As I always tell my students, if you have to put “clearly” obviously it wasn’t very clear.
You have to keep in mind that this is not a traditional published title. Not only that but the game is still in a true beta phase, which means major developmental shifts can happen.
The fact that players are willing to pay for private servers and other stuff shows that there is interest in this game. It shows that there is a customer base that wants to help support this game.
Newbs’ suggestions are a way to make competition better, which is one of the main goals of Splash Damage with this title. Right now there are top teams that are debating on leaving the game, some already have, due to the frustration with the way it’s being developed. Sure any publisher can make money off a F2P pub game, but you won’t retain players if there is not a competition worth playing.
all fubar’s suggestions are great, none of them being game-changing. but they lead to a significent improve of the game depth or player’s expierience.
- spwn times, healthbar/objectbar removal will make the game more demanding: the less you know the more you have to think and analise. moves this more to quake and ET. Good.
- player stats: all great in any game.
- obvious bugs/missworks like walk/turn footsteps (realy annoying), and not obvious bugs (like small models not matching hitboes): good finds
- weapon balance suggestions. mostly will lead to: more consistency = less frustration. (falloff dmg, directhit nades both are frustrating)
once these changes (or their analogs) will start to be implemented in game it will become a deep, demanding and rewarding.
E.g. Funky Audio. Do you think it’s a matter of changing 10-20 lines of code to make the sound positioning different? Demos, medic cam, map SDK, community servers - all of them would be new features. And new features = most likely more bugs to fix after they’re found during extensive testing. Removing several (not only one) HUD features - yes, that’s also game-changing if applied globally - if anything, I’d rather see those as server settings, if community servers will ever be a thing.
Are you implying a bug in level design should not be fixed because it’s an intended and implied feature?
Demos
Demos are already in the game, there are server recordings too. This is merely a way of providing more functionality to an already existing feature.
map sdk
Community maps are already being created and worked on, the functionality is there and was used in the alpha - again, just a means of providing support for existing features.
community servers
Really…?
So, we’re back to square one. All of these things are already in the game, with broken to bad functionality. Yes, they need work and thus resources need to be allocated. But, “making an entirely new game?”
In the end, other than the HUD suggestions … none are game altering features, got it.
Yes, most of these things require work, code to be rewritten, tested, etc. But this is a beta after all, this is not a live release. And the game development is an ever on-going process. A lot of the things I’ve posted have already been “confirmed to be done down the road”, it’s merely a matter of prioritization.
TICK TOCK
It’s 2016 and so far the vast majority of these suggestions have not been remotely addressed or discussed by developers. DB is quickly moving towards being solely a pub-only game; with its never-ending revolving door of bored 12 year olds that will play for maybe 50 hours and quit. This is why the servers are filled with crappy free rotation mercs that turn any server they enter into a spamtastic TDM. http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/46732-Free-Rotation.
You are losing the W:ET and competitive base that you had because you have either refused to discuss these issues or because you constantly give vague answers with little to no actual major game developments. (Bless Faraleth for sitting through months of weekly twitch streams that contained almost nothing of real value). Look most of us know that this game is nothing but a “hobby” for SD, as it doesn’t pay the bills, but putting minimum effort into it at this stage and just now releasing content that has been in the game for the past 2 years under the guise of “mega-updates” is an insult to every person that helped fund this game almost 3 years ago.
It is just amazing to me how SD could take a heavy spam laced pub game like W:ET and just make a spammer new game with worse maps. Seriously stop trying to make every weapon and every merc competition viable… it’s not going to happen. Instead you are just pissing people who value aim over spam by buffing things that really didn’t need buffing, especially shotguns
TLDR: Unless something is done soon to fix the plethora of balancing and game play issues this game won’t have a competitive future, which is something you’ve been touting as your goal. So fix your **** and get your act together or your game’s player base will consist of nothing but bored 12 year olds that won’t stick around and won’t hand over money
