I’m also going to be in the competition this time. Thought I might use more time too. I just started it. The deadline usually has not finally ended before there was 5 contestant.
Nice one murka! I really like the smoothness of it and light.

Alright, so the new deadline is untill 5 or more people take part, and if that number wont be reached within the next 2.5 weeks i´l be closing the competition.
That should be enough time. : )
Murka, that has written ‘awesome’ all over it ! Great job !
Reminds me of the good ol’ Age of Empires
I did use the AoE trebuchet picture to make mine
Notice the similarities?(image attached)
I might release this as a prefab as it rotates perfectly in all ways(attachtotag).
Are the axis really running forward??? or just running on the spot?
Looovveee iiittt!!!

Words are nothing compared to images…
You can get the models into your map and add animations using C’s model tool thing. Not that simple though.
His map is buuuuuu shit. The graphics are too much for woflenstein?!?!?!!?!?!?!??
Hmm, strangely enough, you might be right.
I took a closer look and I found some weird things:
1: Look at the characters. They’re having no uniform, in fact, their upper body is uncovered (that’s what I’m seeing, please, correct me if I’m wrong)
2:

Take a closer look at the character standing next to the trebuchet. Not really wearing an axis uniform, and the animation/movement is not really ET-ish. But hey, it could be an animation made by C’s model tool.
Though, I’ve seen a prefab of a catapult, which looks exactly the same as he’s using, so I’m pretty sure that’s possible in ET.
The skybox he’s using is from Avoc, if I’m not mistaken.
I’m not saying that this is a false entry or accusing anyone, it are just a few elements that cought my attention.
Maybe to clear all stuff, it would be easier if a radiant screenshot is taken, then all suspicion is gone
what have you been sniffing those are just allies soldier and the trebuchet is an axis engi with his pliers out making something…
I don’t see a thing that makes me feel there’s something wrong. Most of the textures I see are from pak0. Light is smooth (phongshading) and the terrain mesh and the castle is smooth, and that makes it seem too smooth (which deceives). I know all he done is possible in ET and not even really that advanced. Texture quality is great, but nothing you can’t do with your gfx card and config (and probably detail textures). All I see is a nicely made entry with great care of finishing. The light quality and color makes it feel “too nice”. Great job!
A thing that separates a good tank and a great tank is most of the time just a good render. A good render/compile makes a big difference. I remember some years ago something was presented (was it a program or something) that turns the ET graphics to really über-hüber-super-quality and I’ve also seen extra-quality configs too. When someone uses a config with turned down graphics he might easily forget that ET CAN look amazing, smooth and whatnot. Not too many mappers care to use a proper time (most of the times at all) to tweak that last touch which makes the difference thought. Light is probably imho the most important thing.
Well as I said, I never intended to accuse murka10 from a false entry, I myself am very amazed by his mapping skills (look at earlier posts) . I was just wondering if I’ve gone paranoid, and so I was :stroggtapir:
I hope somewhere deep inside, murka10 finds a place to forgive me.
But hey, next time, he shouldn’t make something that nice
(nono, just kidding of course)
ET player models contain loads of unused anims, from being on fire to nazi saluts, I assume they’re from RTCW.
On last round my scene had soliders marching, soliders on fire, soldiers been injured and a fops using binocs, sadly you can see most of it through explosion.
Allied uniforms are that colour, dunno why you think they topless or whatever.
Not allowed to use it ?
And how is the graphic too much for ET reaply ? R_mode 8 and R_picmip 0 its good or what you think ? Texture quality ?
@ Chris:
Cool to know about those animations.
About the uniforms, I was just mistaken. I said it numerous times, it was just what I thought and to correct me if I was wrong, and so I was
@ nukits002:
of course he’s allowed to use it (well, it’s not my skybox, but I’m sure Avoc doesn’t really mind if someone does use it). I was just a bit confused by the nice quality of the scene. The reason why I said about that skybox was to prove the scene is from ET. That’s also the reason why I said that thing about the catapult. I was just making an analysis about what I saw.
Some other posts about ‘wow that couldn’t be from ET’ made me look a bit closer and well… I was wrong.
I can keep on saying that I’m wrong and actually, from the very beginning I was truly amazed… mistakes happen, sorry for that

All terrain is hand made, models are made with C’s model tool, skybox is Avoc’s “Horizon” with a sun edit(3 suns pointing from a bit varied angles for smoother shadow edge), catapult is from a prefab(sadly i don’t know who it belongs to).
I didn’t really bother to light the player models properly(some too dark, some a bit bright).
Terrain textures/shaders are from SimonOC’s terrain tutorial(http://www.simonoc.com/pages/articles/terrain1_1.htm)
All non-default textures are taken by googling and then editing them(cutting out bits, retouching, making them tile and sometimes merged them with default textures).
I hope i cleared some confusion.
