'Rogue en Vogue' Drop Boosters Explained

(kittz0r) #121

Meh still at 5 Boosters and 28 Equip Cases… yea works very well… oh maybe im 1 off 1000 that have to play until 90 Equip cases…

Events are supposed to be a good thing for the players, right?

So what do we have here? You have taken away credit income from one of three quests that players get every three hours and replaced it with an event currency.

Instead of the credits we’ll be getting event currency, which can be spent on cuplrit case (for the price of completing 6-7 of those quests, and we don’t even know what’s inside, maybe it will be useless card with a loadout no one wants to use), some purely cosmetic trinkets, boosters which do nothing, and cases that are essentially equipment cases, except 3.5 times more expensive (based on 10000 credits -> 350 cycles).

Basically, all players that are not exceptionally lucky (you need to be exceptionally lucky to get a suspect case, either through drop or suspect equipment cases), would be better off if event didn’t exist in the first place, since they would at least earn more credits with quests, and they could spend on getting more useful things like mercs and loadout cards.

Way to go, SD. I’m totally hyped for an event that slows my progression.

So, if I’m correct, the priorities for this event are:

  1. Buy 1 Culprit Case
  2. Buy trinkets
  3. Spend the rest of cycles on Suspect Cases
  4. Forget about boosters and pray to RNGeezus instead

All hail RNGeezus!!

Guess I’m the 1 out of 1000 getting the case after 90 equipment cases… I’m always that guy :frowning:

So we all can agree the background lore is good. I mean, a FREAKING COMIC AND A GOOD STORY TO BOOT! When has a game-dev done something like that for an update, let alone a f2p one?

On the other hand, yes, I agree the immediate drop reset system is bonkers.

Here’s simple math, assuming that you MUST have 10 case boosters (because it’s seemingly impossible with any less . . . or more in this situation :frowning: )

So, considering each booster is 1,250 (don’t quote me, don’t have numbers in front atm), and 10 of them is “needed”, thay’ll be 12, 500. Considering that it took me (looking at my game hours on steam) 1-2 days to get roughly 1k, it’ll take about 2 weeks, give a take a day or 2, two get 12, 500 . . . of non-stop play.

That indicates that SD wants us to convert creds or buy it with real cash (for drop cases). Go figure, as they even have the obsidian card offer and limited pay-only trinket if it’s not obvious already.

So, considering it has taken me from 3 days before the event to today, with an average of 3-4 hours per day of grinding (doing all possible missions), I am still roughly 30k short of 100k.

So, if you could piece all of this together, for the average cheapskate (which is most of us I assume; I wouldn’t really want to invest in a f2p with no real return unless I have money to spend), it would take over 3, or even 4 weeks to get 100k from the start of the event.

Again, there are many variables to account for that I have not accounted for. All I’m trying to draw is an approximate image of a player who really wants to get at LEAST 1 event card and all the trinkets.

Which is me.

So, what does all mean?

  1. Please oh please for the love of RNGeezus make the drops easier to obtain
  2. Please oh please ALSO not make the penalty for getting a drop to be loosing all your boosters. I don’t mind if it’s 4 or 5, but no way will I take 10 in the future (no choice now  )
  3. Implement the previous changes I mentioned. They are DEFINITELY worth a shot, as they wouldn’t ruin anyone’s game, or at least on a CTE of some sort

tl;dr SD, Please oh please for the love of RNGeezus change future events to not be as grindy. We as a community enjoy the style and the new “trial” drop system, but we don’t want it to carry on as is for future updates.

Cheers, and sorry for rant. Had to let it out somehow.

What a lame way of doing this, at least for those of us who don’t play 24/7. I wanted a chance at a Phantom loadout, even saved cycles and got boosters (just three :), they’re wasted on the rubbish mercs this week. Ty, but no ty. What a waste.

(feigenstaub) #127

2 booster, 36 eq cases, 0 event cases
wuhuu

edit: currently 48 cases

(poit187) #128

8 boosters, been playing 4-6 hours a day since SD blatantly rigged the RNG to give everyone a case on April 14th… haven’t got anything since. a lot of normal cases though.

(vdll) #129

Over 70h playtime past 2 weeks, 0 boosters, 0 event drops since the first day of week 2.
Got almost 100 fresh leads (although I buy a lot of regular cases lately).

(kittz0r) #130

0 boosters 54 normal cases during last weeks rotation… it didnt matter if i had 5 or 0 boosters… yep working…

(poit187) #131

got two more boosters, totally 10, after 7 games I got a case https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQ5iF1zSMRg

Thing is, why must it take 10 boosters to get it? would seem to me like you either go for 10 or don’t bother.

(mpod89) #132

Had 4 boosters day one on week 2 and got a shitty rhino. Since then I played a week with 4 boosters, got nothing, played another week with 5 boosters, still nothing, when this week started i immediately bout 3 more boosters and am now up to 8. Still nothing. My average play time is 25h a week. I got a ton or regular cases, i don’t count but i’m sure i got over 30 cases since week 2. This rng is pretty crappy fellas.

(mazu) #133

got 6 Booster and 60 cases… thats just wow

I’m of the opinion that the boosters should have had a more direct impact on getting an Event Case. It’s basically a “Monthly Limited Edition” and as is the case when, say, an auto manufacturer is putting up a special edition for a car, you’re supposed to award basically “everyone who showed up and had the means to participate and acquire”.

If you’re worried about economy and the fact that you gave these Limited Editions away to everybody who came. Just think about the future. When new players show up and see that veterans of previous events have all these “Limited Editions” (the Suspect textures for example may very well never appear again outside this event). Then it will increase the exclusive feeling of everyone who was there and will encourage casuals and new players to “participate more often”.
