Unfortunately 1.4 doesn’t have that coords plugin. You need to make a brush under your entire map, and make sure its Square. If map coords aren’t square you’ll get errorred. Hover mouse in x/y view on corners of squared brush, and look in lower right corner of radiant hud for your coords.

For the basic entities, there’s debate on what minimum entities are needed for different patches. Download EB’s Prefab Spawns and import it to your spawnless map. It includes wobj’s, info_player_~s, etc.

i do have spawn points, but what do i when i get the coords, how do i stop the error?

kk, if you have your square coords you just need to add the 2 key/values to your worldspawn.
they’ll look like:


"classname" "worldspawn"
"mapcoordsmaxs" "512 -512" //is bottom - right
"mapcoordsmins" "-512 512" //is top - left


in your .map, but no quotes in radiant entity editor.

im sorry but im pretty new to gtk and i am not sure where to add this , i know what keys and values are, not sure what they do but i know what they are, but can u tell me where i can find the window to enter this info?

oops, k hit “n” to open the “entity window”. Then to edit your worldspawn select any brush not in an entity, like an outer wall brush or something, then you can add keys to it. Something has to be selected, so double check the key(s) is actually added. 8)

\developer 1
\sv_pure 0
\devmap mapname
(in ET)
and not just \map mapname, right?

can you spawn with binds? Like:
bind k “team b 2 24; echo ALLIED Engineer”
bind j "team r 2 23; echo AXIS Engineer "
?

-Why are your wobj’s inside your spawns?

u can add those leines manually by opening ur *.map file with a simple text editor (eg. notepad2). this will also let u to check if there is everything ok at worldspawn.
there u must see something that slayer wrote 6 posts ago, with “”-s, or add it or correct it

this is the tutorial that i learned how to do all my work, the spawns are exactly as in the tutorial

“mapcoordsmins” “-128 128”
“mapcoordsmaxs” “128 -128”
“classname” “worldspawn”

that is from my .map file in notepad.

“C:\Program Files\Mapping ET\ET.exe” “+set g_gametype 2 +set sv_pure 0”

that is the path to my ET as it says to do in the tutorial.
other than this i am running it directly from /map mapname

k >_> well, are you able to run any map at all recently? I checked 2bits tute, and no he doesn’t have the team_WOLF_obj’s(wobj) inside the spawns(even in his dl prefab they’re seperate). I just tested hollowing a box around them and compiling. I also tested with the wobj inside the spawn(like how you got), and it still works. even using \map test instead of \devmap

3-post your full .map(with note/wordpad copy/paste all) with forum code /code tags if you can load other maps, if you can’t load anything it’s not your .map :stuck_out_tongue:

yes, i ran one of my previous made working maps with 1.5 and compiled it with 1.4 , it works fine , :frowning:

and it told me not to set it to the exact map coords but 1 in on each side or something like that cuz he finds that it freezes et if its exact.
it worked :slight_smile:
finaly i can start on a map.

i was just wondering if anyone knows a place to download prefabs like cars, trains, computers and such things like that.
and a good scripting tutorial?
cuz i wanna do objective in this map but i have no clue how.

Yes i am sorry , i never thought about using the search before i posted that. i will use it from now on :slight_smile:

here is a screenie of what ive been working on , only a days work
remember this is only my 3rd map, 4th if u wanna count the failed one that i couldnt fix the null error on.
but anyway, toss an opinion :slight_smile:
