I say each of us with the grid problem make a whole new thread on the topic so that we get some answers. This is complete and utter BS and i think we deserve the attention
[Renderer] Nvidia OpenGL driver has lost connection with the display driver
Hi, purchased the game from Steam this morning, was gonna get the 360 version, but thought i would save myself some lag problems, but now I have this.
At first it would crash between 5 - 10 mins into mission, I would just get a white screen with a blue circle for my mouse is buz, hittin esc would take to desktop, with brink has stopped responding error msg.
At this point i was using 266 nvidia drivers on a GTX470, because steam updated or changed my DX files during install, I thought it would be worth while updating my display driver, so I now have v270.61 i think it was.
Anyway instead of getting stuck on a white screen, it now crashes straight to the desktop with the OpenGL has lost connection with your display driver problem.
I have to say, i get the feeling that it always crashes at a critical part in the mission, like when your trying to kill the spy and a cut scene is just about to start.
Lowered my graphic to below medium, still no fix , gonna try disabaling DX11, perhaps 10 or 9 would work better, just a guess tho not really sure whats causing it.

In order to get the Diags I had to disable the DirectShow test, never had that problem before, also the screen res is 32bit at 60 herts, since im using the HDMI connection to my 100Hz TV this doesn’t look right.
Hope someone can help, only completed one mission in about 10 tries and that’s because I camped at the door.
:o
UpDate; I have now been playing for the past 12 hours or so, without a single crash or error msg. I read on the steam forum that droping your screen res can fix the problem, which has worked for me, instead of running it at 1080p ( 1920 x 1080 ), I have been running it at ( 1600 x 1200 ) which is about 720p I think. Anyway i have the graphics turned full up at the lower res & all runs perfectly.
P.S Great game, well done!, I love the Fresh Approach to gameplay, Totaly Refreshing, lol.
On the Steam forums, someone brought up a very interesting idea that I’m going to test out. Here’s what I said about it (edited to make sense out of context):
[Playing as a medic] could be [the problem]. I do think that many times it’s frozen for that split second before crashing, I’m staring at my syringe.
My friend has a setup almost exactly like mine, but he wasn’t crashing when playing an Engineer.
I did a clean install of my drivers and only crashed once but I think it was due to something in my background because my whole comp went nuts. I haven’t had this OpenGL error since, even with that one crash…but I have also been playing Engi and Op, not Medic.
Gonna have to test this.
No, I’ve played every class and it happens dependent of the class you are. Its a problem with the shaders imo.
Same problem here. I have GTX 570 and using latest Nvidia WHQL drivers, and I am on Windows 7 - 64 Bit. I am playing the game at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
I tried a suggestion someone posted over at the steam forums, and it helps (but DOES NOT solve the problem).
Try changing your resolution aspect ratio to 16:9. It helped me, but didn’t solve it (But now I can finish a map, at least).
1680x1050. evga gtx460, win7 64bit, sometimes an hour or two, sometimes not even five minutes into a game.

What more do you want?
I tried a suggestion someone posted over at the steam forums, and it helps (but DOES NOT solve the problem).
Try changing your resolution aspect ratio to 16:9. It helped me, but didn’t solve it (But now I can finish a map, at least).
Lolwut? It helps but doesn’t solve the problem? Uh, you either get the crashes or you don’t, so your post makes no sense. I’ve finished plenty of maps too, the problem is that these crashes are completely random.
And 1920x1080 IS 16:9. Plenty of people in this thread with this problem are using that aspect ratio, so it doesn’t help at all.
Lowering resolution seems to help. I was playing at 720 (1080 is native) and it was crashing a LOT less. (20 mins to crash instead of 2)
How is that helping? You’re still getting crashes so I fail to see the logic in this.
Also, I’m not playing a game that I bought with the intention of playing at my monitors native resolution, at a resolution much lower, because it makes the game look like crap. I’ll just play something else until it gets fixed. I can understand if it’s not hard locking your system, but it is mine.

Reducing the frequency of the issue is obviously “helping”. No it’s not a fix, which he mentioned. However, it’s absolutely worth noting that running at a lower resolution seems to reduce the frequency of the crash. That information could certainly help steer towards the source of the problem.
Nobody is telling you to lower your resolution and stop complaining. Just reporting the results of running the game with different settings. Not sure why you’re taking your anger out on this guy for reporting results.
same thing just happened to me. Was playing the 3rd mission on public server as police force. Was just disguising myself as an enemy and then bam: got this error:
Was playing at 1920x1080 With everything maxed out. Post processing off (always turns off when i enable it, no idea why, as well as two other settings off and vsync off. the two others again are off because the game keeps turning them back off)
I have a Win 7 64bit SP1
i7 860
GTX 460 TOP edition Asus 1GB
8GB DDR3
Nvidia driver 270.61
Reducing the frequency of the issue is obviously “helping”. No it’s not a fix, which he mentioned. However, it’s absolutely worth noting that running at a lower resolution seems to reduce the frequency of the crash. That information could certainly help steer towards the source of the problem.
Nobody is telling you to lower your resolution and stop complaining. Just reporting the results of running the game with different settings. Not sure why you’re taking your anger out on this guy for reporting results.
I’m just pointing out that it didn’t help anything. It’s placebo effect because the crashes are completely random. I’ve played the game for 3 hours straight with not a single crash at my native resolution, and I’ve played for 30 minutes and gotten 3 crashes.
So with that logic, I guess just playing the game “helps” too.

I guess you missed the part where the Splash Damage rep specifically asked what resolution people were running as the next important information after which GPU they had. Clearly evidence that it’s not important at all.
I guess from now on everybody should post what asus tells us to instead of Splash Damage. He’s going to fix this for us better than they are apparently.

You know what, my bad, you’re completely right. I get crashes at 1920x1080, as many as 3 in 30 minutes. But if I leave my res at 1920x1080, sometimes I can play for 3 hours straight with no issues. It definitely helps me (but doesn’t completely fix the problem). So try it out guys, leave your res at 1920x1080 if your res is already 1920x1080 and it definitely helps!!
You were right bro!

lol.
Well done. +1
I lowered my resolution from 1920x1080 to 1360x768 and reduced the crash frequency, but not by much.
Guys, I might have a solution. It works for me so far, at least, so maybe it’s worth a try.
Go to your BRINK profile (or use the global profile) in the nVidia driver panel and set “Power Management Mode” from “adaptive” to “prefer maximum performance”.
I did not have any more crashes since I did this, but it might just be coincidence. Still, maybe it helps.
