[Renderer] Nvidia OpenGL driver has lost connection with the display driver

(jfunk) #421
interesting that this issue occurs also in ETQW but on very rare occasions.

stable …now it crashes
8800GT (burned) -> gtx460
The actual message we’re seeing is relatively generic. It’s likely the same message you will see in many cases where you have an OpenGL app of any kind crash for any reason.

The NVIDIA OpenGL display driver is what stopped responding to Windows. Obviously Brink is the application that caused that to happen, but Windows doesn’t necessarily “see” that, as it only knows that the driver was hung. So unfortunately, this error message itself isn’t very useful.

We don’t even know from this message if we’re actually getting the same crash every time, or if we’re encountering a half dozen different faults that all result in the driver hanging. All we know for sure is Brink crashes way more often on many 4XX cards than it appears to on other hardware.

The issue is being investigated as a high priority.

See don’t be afraid … until they say they can’t fix it :stuck_out_tongue:

What I find hilarious is that he couldn’t type that in this thread, you know, the thread that’s 21 pages long, has almost 20,000 views, and over 400 replies - many of those replies asking for the smallest of responses or just a touch of feedback.

What a joke.

Seeing as that was posted today I don’t think this is going to be fixed in the next patch. Hopefully this is not a huge problem although it seems to be…

Crispy is you’re still monitoring this thread, please let us know if there’s any diagnostics we can do on our end to help expedite this resolution. I know some people are getting upset but in the end, at least for myself, I’d rather get the game fixed then return it. It’s fun and when it’s not crashing I enjoy it. It’s just frustrating for the users to be having this problem from over a week and no update.

Please can everyone experiencing this problem post their graphics card and the resolutions they experience this in below.
You already know what to do …

I’m aware that was requested a while ago. However, since this has been about a week since then with little info given back to us one would assume that the problem might be bigger than they originally thought, so more information may be needed. Never hurts to ask.

(mR.Waffles) #427

So it’s been weeks. This is ridiculous.

(Fox!) #428

my friends have already went back to their original games
i still have a glimmer of hope, but i don’t think i’ll ever buy another bethesda/splash damage game ever again

(Jet Black) #429

Well, taking phryzz’s advice and backstepping to the 266.58 drivers and the suggested settings of his, have made a huge difference. I played several hours without a crash, whereas before I couldn’t play more than 30 minutes max, often as short as 1 minute.

Just FYI for those desperate to play, but haven’t tried this yet (no guarantee it will work for everyone).

BTW I did a Custom -> Clean Install with the nVidia drivers, but did not Driver Sweeper.

(neks) #430

gtx460 768mb slightly OC’d, drivers 270.61, 1920*1080

i can usually play a couple of hours before it crashes

(scub) #431

so i guess SD really has no clue how to fix this issue since another patch has come out with no fix. how hard is it to purchase a couple video cards and run some tests?

has anyone tried playing after this patch? maybe they “fixed” issue without knowing it since they seemed to have created the issue after the very first patch.

my patience with this game is on the last thread…

(neks) #432

maybe it’s a driver issue and SD can only do little about it.

(scub) #433

i don’t it’s driver related. i think most of us didn’t have this problem until they released the first patch a little over a week ago.

That’s what I was hoping but no, still crashes.

(jmcu) #435

Post Patch = CRASH

(ReturnOfSanta) #436

I’m beginning to think at this point its a driver issue SPECIFICALLY with Brink. SD has said they have communicated with Nvidia for future driver revisions I guess when Nvidia pushes out the next driver we can finally play.

(mR.Waffles) #437

If my Nvidia drivers work with every single game except one should I assume the problem is the drivers or the game? What is the more logical assumption?

(ReturnOfSanta) #438

But how many other games do you have that are OpenGL?

(Nail) #439

EVGA have a SLI fix out

(Moonlighter) #440

Maybe it’s just me, but after the patch I’m getting this crash more frequently.

On the plus side, lag seems to be greatly reduced.
