Tightening the spread is good for consoles too. No need to separate the platforms.

One medic threw a Lazarus on the second round.

I thought, this was one of the abilities that is not allowed in “usual” competetive matches?

Nope, Lazarus nades are allowed in the ESL Config, and they can be very effective tbf. Also im pretty sure all abilities are set and locked by the server config so you cant break the rules. (They are at least in ESL).

But yea the reason you want tighter spread on weapons is to increase the skill ceiling and reward players who do aim for the head consistently by killing the opponent quicker. At the moment, i think everyone can see that most bullets are aiming for the upper chest, as the spread is so big it is the most rewarding area of a body to consistently hit that’s doable.

This shouldn’t be encouraged in a FPS game, ideally it should be encouraging players to aim for the head, the toughest part of the player model so when you play brink you are actually improving your aim, rather than forcing yourself to aim for the upper chest (which isn’t useful compared with headshots in other games… in a way making your aim worse). But SD need to tighten the spread to give the player more control over where they aim/hit, encouraging & allowing players to go for headshots in a firefight.

I used the Kross almost exclusively while playing yesterday and I found it kills very fast (comparable to carb) most of the time if you aim for the neck, within about 15m distance. Using this method I was killing players who got the drop on me, multiple players at once, etc. The drawback is that sometimes you get unlucky with the spray and no headshots land, then it takes ages to kill.
The Kross and Bulp are really the only SMGs worth trying this with, though. Carb feels too inaccurate to try for headshots, so unless you are right on top of the enemy you should keep your aim low enough for all the bullets (even the ones that spray high) to have a good chance to connect. Still, the extra dps of the Carb means that it will win out over the Kross most of the time in a “fair fight” (all other factors relatively even). But the recent success with the Kross headshotting leads me to believe that SD may not have to lower spreads by much to get the right balance and feel of gun combat.

I missed the live coverage. Can someone post it here if they find any vids of the QuakeCon Brink gameplay? Thx.

def this. my standard practice was to start about mid chest and make my way up to the neck as the clip went down - spread was there, but kept most of the shots on target (ish), and some had a chance to hit the head. worked reaallly well before the increased the spread with the patch. still works well though.

to keep my post OT (there might be another thread or 2 on weapons spread, not sure…) does anyone know where the archived matches are located…would like to watch.
