Hmmm… Probably should ignore this, but… Why do you always “use a black guy”, Captain K?
Propensity towards Customisation
no customization for me, that way I’ll be truely unique
ur going to look like all the comp players
not too worried, all the comp players will have clan tats or something equally redic
I don’t approve.
I think they we’re all planning to be uniform lights so you don’t know who you’re facing and they have the most speed.
The customization is going to be like a desktop wallpaper or facebook profile picture. Everyone is going to change it at least once a week. Once I unlock everything I’ll probably settle on a few looks and hopefully try to maintain them. But with the endless variety at least it’s something different to look at for awhile. It will feel like each time you’ve found some unique Ark inhabitant to team up with. That will imply it is diversely populated with everyone fighting.
I’ve always loved the idea of Customization, but I’ve never had this amount of Customization thrown at me with an Online FPS…I mean sure there’s Reach, but it doesn’t come close to the amount of detail, and there was Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 a while back, but again, even though it comes closer to the detail found in Reach, still ain’t anywhere near the amount in BRINK…
I don’t really know why I give so much of a damn about Customization, I guess I just like the idea of “Defining My Own Player”…you know, making a vain attempt to make a unique Character by using the most used items, that old classic…
But still, any game that’s a solid Online FPS and offers Customization of some sort deserves a thumbs up in my opinion…and BRINK appears to offer both of those on a 5-Star Level…
It has a gameplay element. It gets you to easily recognise familiar friends and foes, which makes it easier to have alliances and hold grudges against friends. It adds an emotional aspect to the game, where yo forego important targets in order to go after your nemesis. And that’s a nice development, shooters need more drama.
teabagging would have come to a totally different quality level if there were female models…
Yeah, from the time I’ve spent playing the Gears of War 3 Beta, it’s safe to say that people seem to see a bit more incentive to T-Bag-(well, I say T-Bag, more of a repeated Thrust)-when they see a downed FEMALE player…God only know what’ll happen when the Queen comes out on to the Battlefield in KOTH next week…Christ…Female AND a damn Locust…
Whilst I agree, I also know that I don’t need a skin to hunt down a nemesis. If you know the general area they were lurking you can go straight there. You still get that “grr” when you see the name of the person who killed you on the death message.
But yeah, a recognisable skin would make it easier to pick out a person out of a group if revenge is to be served.
It does give your brain a visual to attach the emotion to. So I imagine the emotion is more powerful than with named clones.
Mind you the hunt can be half the fun sometimes when you have to guess which one you’re looking for.
Sure but directly seeing your nemesis means there will be more hunting going on in general.
I think it benefits community much more. If my friend plays a character that looks a certain way and I know thats what they look like there’s an immediate connection. You see that particular configuration and associate it with your friend that you actually know vs random generated grunt with name tag over head.
I enjoy customization, because it adds a sense of creativity to the game. I love to create.edit, whether it be creating maps in Quake 3, creating music in ACID Pro, or creature creation in SPORE. Allowing me to create/edit my in-game character, gives me a creative outlet in something meaningful - something i can be proud of and I and others will see a lot of.
Maybe it has to do with my artistic background (drawing, writing, musician) but I just get a lot of enjoyment out of things like this.
