Possibility to skip the revive

(SockDog) #21

Don’t really see the problem here. Even if the medic gets you up and you die you’re just back to where you were anyway. This IMO is a matter of teamwork and what makes a good medic versus a not so good one, changing the game to take that away from the medic would be some serious dumbing down of the medic role.

As for revive protection. Also not really taken with that either. So you run into the enemy cross fire, get justly shot, happily revived and then you can scamper back somewhere safe to heal up while the enemy team are powerless.

No revive protection won’t work either.
Because when you get revived you need time to aim, when you already under fire the bullets will slow down your movements aswell.

I believe in the next update, we’ve taken this out to test how it feels to not have the slow down on hit.

If I recall, in ET we had the lighting bolt and shield symbol appear above a revived players head to show their invulnerability (for a few seconds), but if they fired their gun they instantly lost it.

I may be naive here but why is it good for a revived player to get the bead on me for a free headshot? I’m assuming protecting also drops the second they pick up an objective?

I think what he wants is a confirmation AFTER the medic has already revived you.

IE: you get incapped and fall down, medic runs over and paddles you, you get a “press SNARF to stand up” confirmation, you wait while the medic is killed by a passing soldier who wanders off down the street, you press SNARF and stand up.

As opposed to: you get incapped and fall down, medic runs over and paddles you and you immediately stand back up, soldier has his way with both of you before wandering off down the street.

I don’t think it should work that way… but I think that’s what the OP is trying to get at. He doesn’t mean skipping revive by suiciding, he means waiting a moment before accepting the revive.

I see revive protection more of a way to actually get out of the way to be healed up fully and regroup rather than a mechanic that allows you to take instant revenge of the person who just fragged you, remember it would cease the moment you start shooting and it’s not like you always know where the enemy is after being killed (long range kills especially). It’s frustrating to get revived and to instantly get killed again, perhaps the medic should clear the area first but what about medics that choose to dash in and around the action picking people up because they are more proficient at moving than shooting, they wouldn’t be rewarded as much for what I feel is an equally valid way to play the medic role.

Actually reviving a player is a good idea in the middle of a firefight. The medic gets a temporary shield in front of him and that one second could prove vital.

One thing tho, make sure revive/spawn protection goes down only when a shot is fired(or knife used…) instead of detecting a click from the mouse. I hated when I accidentally hit the fire key in etqw, did my quick run-in but realized that the enemy took half my hp away while I was parachuting down.

Don’t agree with this. In some battlefield games you can stand still and stay invulnerable. So some people use this time to casually line up a shot…

I agree with shield lost on shot, but there also need to be a max shield time of 1-2 seconds

(DarkangelUK) #29

And that shield time should be from when you gain movement control, not just when you stand up. I’ve found myself mashing the forward+sprint buttons shouting “Run you bastage!”

(stealth6) #30

I actually quite like the revive system as is, doesn’t feel sluggish at all imo. There is no “I’m stuck”, you get revived and you can go!

(.Chris.) #31

Yeah providing there’s no enemy around shooting at you.

Yeh thats understandable, although in DB the incapped player has full vision unlike Brink.
So if they see the enemy nearby they should /kill out. The medic might go for a blind revive otherwise.
