I managed to join 3 matches. First match was OK. Second had player from the opposite team with significantly higher skill level that the rest of the team. Last match I joined was 5v2 (we were 5) and it was basically waiting game for the match to end (they refused to surrender).

So I was forced into this casual MM system and that would be fine if everything were more functional. There’s no Stopwatch, I was forced to play on a server with 120 ping (I live in Australia and was put on a Singaporean server), it took like 10 minutes to find a game despite the game finding matches like every 15-30 seconds, the game started 5v6 not in our favour and just as we crushed the first objective on Underground because that map is imbalanced in favor of attackers in terms of it clearly being designed to be finished and raced over in Stopwatch, the server crashed and everyone was ejected from the game.
I get the idea but as of right now it’s a catastrophic failure not only to me but to everyone on Australia due to the possibility of being put on servers thousands of kilometers from the sun (for those not in the know, we voted wrong and now have third world internet kinda not really but seriously).

It took me 50 minutes to play 2 matches. I don’t want to be put on a random server, anyway! I’ve got friends in Europe, sometimes I might want to play on a European server. There are often hackers, so I don’t want to be penalized for leaving the damned game within two or three minutes. And I don’t want for the server to simply dissolve when the match is done! All this time is not worth the ten minute matches and it does nothing to stop good teams rolling over noobs by assorting people by skill.
What the hell were you people thinking?

Changing your title. Please, have some tact.
It was a test. The game is getting casual matchmaking and the test ran for a short period to identify issues. Some of those issues were not being able to find a match quickly. The end product won’t work like that. It’s also not the same system that ranked is using.
There are going to be more tests but if they aren’t working they won’t run long. Also, the test isn’t going to have everything be 100% release quality. Lots of things should change I’d wager.

Don’t even try to say that.
The only difference is it’s trying to balance depending on character stat sheets/level, instead of “I won more games, so I’m obviously better” Elite/Cobalt/ETC Ratings.
You choose 5 people or solo. (Like Comp. However, you can 6-man this one.)
You have 10 people accept the match. (Like Comp.)
One person fails to accept, and you start the search again. (Like Comp. However, Comp had a 1 minute timer, this has a 5 second timer.)
If you quit, it enforces a “ranking penalty” and requires you to re-enter the game, or not be able to play at all. (Just. Like. Comp.)
You can’t stay in the lobby. It removes you back to your “Party Lobby” AKA Competitive Party Lobby. (Once again, the only differencce is this one has 6 players, not 5.)
And a bad system based apon what hasn’t even worked in the passed, no matter how much you wager, won’t work correctly. Especially if it’s an incredibly larger scale, with even more things to balance and take into consideration.

Almost every single issue that ranked has had was due to very little incentive to play it. So very few people actually did. Then you throw in the longer wait time the higher your rank gets due to fewer people playing and it gives a person even less incentive to play. All of that adds up to people playing it less and less over time as we saw. It worked perfectly fine.
So there is a huge difference. And this is a whole new system that isn’t just a ported version of ranked. And hopefully improvements to this system will then be ported back over to ranked, ranked incentivized properly, people will be be more used to structured play from pub games which will lead them into ranked easier etc. etc. A lot of good can come out of this. Especially if community servers becomes a thing sooner rather than later.
Understanding what caused something to fail makes it easier to not be mad at future changes that will hopefully fix those issues.

Why the fuck is everybody complaining. This was a test run in a BETA game. Finally they are testing something new. They had disclaimers everywhere that its an Alpha release and likely to have bugs and cause problems. Everybody is bitching since months about games being not balanced and SD is really doing something against it and you are whining?!? WTF? You are really angry that they test something for a few hours in a Beta in a fp2 game and it doesnt work properly for you? Get over yourselves.
To SD: thx a lot for doing this. I was in a lobby with 3-4 friends. We had a lot of problems getting our first match going but after that it didnt take us longer then 1-2 minutes to find a game. They were all really really balanced. We had our lobby running for over an hour after the test was officially over and were able to keep playing. Cant wait for the the next test.
