Please add lobbies into the game.

(Schwarzeis) #21

I’ve read what the console players who got the game says about the lack of lobbies and I must agree, no lobbies is just silly, how can you promote playing with your friends when you can’t even invite all of them unless the planets align?

Give us lobbies, it will do more good than bad, no wait - it wont do any bad at all

(system) #22

Thank you Shredow for posting a well written semi formal complaint/request for us console guys to get behind for lobbies. I would like lobbies in the game as well. I was taken aback by the new FPS play style, but now that I’m getting into it I really enjoy this game and hope a great following similar to the TF2 to latch on to this game.

A bunch of my friends really want to get into Brink en-masse, but we really want to be able to guarantee that we can play together. Would buy the instant we knew this was being looked into.

I remember reading that if you are in the same fireteam you’ll be kept in the same team across games. Is that the case, by the way?

(Inofor) #24

I can see why this would be a good idea and even be needed. I hope the devs will add this feature once they’ve fixed the more acute problems such as some people not being able to play.

(Herandar) #25

They will read it no matter how “alive” the topic is.

(ReDSn0) #26

Totally agree, it was so frustration when I talked my Dad and 6 of my friends into getting the game and we couldn’t get on multiplayer to play together. At least we had the campaign mode or I think a lot of them would have returned the game the next day.

(GingThu) #27

I support this 110%

Now I know why there wasn’t a demo.

Had people known what an impossible chore it was to get into a game with friends the game wouldn’t have sold many copies.

Has Splash Damage ever played a console FPS before?

The tragedy is, this game would be the best FPS on the consoles if it actually worked.

I, too, know this to be the truth. They SHOULD implement lobbies, and a lot of other fixes. The few times I’ve played online, you just start with bots and slowly more humans creep into the match. By that point, you’re two matches in. You shouldn’t have to play two matches with bots in order to get a group of humans going.

(gumbo1919) #30

Shredow, you pretty much posted everything I am thinking. I just wonder how easy/difficult it would be for Splash Damage to implement a lobby system in the console version. Has something like that ever been done on a console game?

(Brink Lags) #31

This game feels like a console scam, money grab. It shouldn’t have been released for consoles. I feel like I’ve been ripped off. I’ve been looking forward to this game forever. This is criminal.

(Shredow) #32

Do you mean has there ever been a pre-game lobby on a console game? If so, HELL YES. Every notable FPS on the console for around the last ten years has used the basic lobby system. Some argue its overused. I just think they should do what works in this case.

If your asking if there has been such a drastic update to a console game after it was released. I don’t know.

(Shredow) #33

Please keep your conspiracy theories out of this discussion.

(Gamer2Gamers) #34

the people want better net code(for console), more maps/game type/ lobbies - please do these for us splash damage.

(RaiderFunk) #35

so how does the warmup work? some of the developers discussed it as a lobby like setting. I have only been on warm up once when I somehow got in an all bot game…wasn’t quite sure what to do…

Excellent thread and I posted this in a feedback thread recently:
A lobby system is key to getting a group of friends in a public game. Or perhaps some in game match settings for the host of a private match (or via a team voting system), to change a game from public to private, restart a match, and close up a room that has reached the host capacity to maintain a smooth game. 1 player matchmaking is solid, but what about for large teams of 6-8 that want to play a public game?

I really believe the addition of ingame match settings would really assist with this. I recall the original Wolfenstien ET on Xbox had them. I appreciate the different toggles for match options before setting up a private match, but if those options were available to the host during a game, it would be much more effective.

For example, I set up a private match with all my settings and invited 6 friends from my XBL party. We played 4 on 3 stopwatch, but did not have the flexibility to change or restart the map, allow other random people to join, toggle FF on or off, change the map timer, turn off all the bots, or adjust their difficulty. Many of the aforementioned features are already in the game but as it presently works, I’d have to end the game and go to the menus just to change something like friendly fire settings or VOIP? and at least if there was a lobby system, it wouldn’t be so cumbersome.

I am loving this game, due to the core elements of classed based teamwork, so the ability to assemble and play as a group should be present directly from the matchmaking menus, not only when 1 person jumps into a game. I truly believe it would help keep lots of people playing for a long time.

Seriously, when people say “I feel like this game is missing something…” it’s never had such an obvious absence…

Now seeing how quick Splash has been at making attempts at fixing things and answering the crowds, I’m damn certain that if they can implement a Party/Lobby System into the game then they will…just down to a matter of the time it takes for them to work it out…and, hopefully, it’s soon…but again, thankyou Splash for being so damn swift to make your actions known…

There has been a console game with a massive ui and lobby overhaul. In MAG on the Ps3 they completely overhauled their entire system, all the talent points, guns, and lobby. They added, from scratch, a clan wars lobby to support up to 128 people which had not previously existed in the game, so it would be possible for SD to go back and implement some kind of new feature to make playing with friends less of a head ache.

(KaZuK) #39

Console really needs a lobby system, but also having it for the PC wouldn’t be so bad either. It would just be a faster way of getting into the action, be it playing the challenges or playing against others.

Also is it even possible to set filters on the server browser for PC?

(gumbo1919) #40

Thats good to know that it is at least possible.
