9-1 in placements, gold recruit.
Placements
8 Wins 2 Loses, but I didn’t warm up any of the days I played so some of the matches I won I scored towards the bottom. Gonna get me one o’ dem Arty Loadouts.
Edit: Oh yeah, probably wanted to know the bit about Silver 4
This is a real Signature.

Lemme just ask why everyone is silver only, placement games are supposed to determine your skill on the entire scale, not just silver.[/quote]
This is what happened over a year ago when they had matchmaking. Number one complaint I heard, and fully agreed with, was that this style of MM felt more like grinding for XP than an MMR system. I understand that you can’t make ELO swing too far in one direction or another after a match, but it’s a bit ridiculous how long you have to grind to get a high rank right now.
@KangaJoo I don’t think I have ever played a game where it wasn’t a grind to get a high rank. With this season we’ve made changes so you’ll notice going up and down more often than before. Personally I’m really enjoying it, especially that the progression is visualised and you’re not just sat wondering if you’ll rank up or not.
My first rank in cs was dmg as in roughly the top 5% of players and the 5th highest rank out of 18. Sure I had to rank up a bit more to get to where I eventually settled, but it wasn’t really a grind. The difference between an MMR rank and an XP rank is an MMR rank shows how good you are and isn’t supposed to be about grinding or playing for a long time, while XP ranks are mostly about how much time you’ve played for.
The whole purpose of something like an ELO system is to put a number/label on player skill. The longer it takes for that number or label to be an accurate reflection of the player’s skill, the worse that system is and right now we have the best and worst players in the world both being assigned silver ranks. If the game just assumes everyone is bad/average and then very slowly adjusts their rank, it’s not doing its job effectively. I understand that you can’t have massive swings in ELO or people would get upset about their ranks fluctuating too much, but that’s why you don’t show ranks during placement games. Most MMR systems allow for pretty large ELO swings during your placement games to figure out roughly where you belong. Once you get a rank, you can’t gain or lose ELO as quickly which means the game can fine tune your rank over a larger data set and you don’t derank after a single loss.

This also means, that the ranked games are just as unbalanced as the quick join. That leads even further: If you can get matched against both much better and much worse players because they have the same ranks (looks like that is the case with silver right now), your win/loss depends more on the matchmaking than your actual skill -> it is random.
Unless you are lucky/unlucky, you will have an average 50% win rate, which means that everyone is stuck in silver for quite a long time - because win/loss is the major factor in ranking, and it evens out because of the 50% win rate.
IMO W/L only works in ranking if you only have 5v5 teams - aside from technical difficulties (crashing, disconnecting) the better team wins, period. If you throw random players together, the personal performance should matter more.
^I know I hate playing with noobs like I am right now. I play with a friend when I get the chance, but I’ve been stuck with clueless players and had to carry a few times. I’m not even done with the placement matches yet though. Sadly, I experienced my first loss after ending up on Underground with a clueless team. That’s definitely the hardest map to carry on because of how narrow it is. Very easy to end up in a 3v1 or even 4v1.
7 wins 3 losses, put me into silver agent. didnt help that i had 3 games where people would drop out. 2 out of those 3 games, 2 or more people left which ended up being 3v5.
I’m tired of running into vaping trolls during my ranked games…
Nearly lost a game to a nearly successful trololol surrender vote.
However, I was placed dead middle with 6 wins 1 Draw, and 3 losses. And ranked up after another two wins. (Silver Specialist I think…)

5 unbalanced wins | 5 unbalanced losses | Silver Recruit
Was a bunch of really tough placement matches.
9 wins, 7 losses, Silver Specialist.
About 60% of my matches have ended in 3 minutes due to leavers and forced surrenders.
