Ah hello, new to this forum, and yet have some knowledge of mapping (Except for the fact that mapping for Enemy Territory is WAY different than RtCW… >.o)

Anyway, about the .arena file. What exactly is supposed to be set in the
mapposition_x and mapposition_y areas? Is it like setting up the command map, or a totally unrelated subject?

Just select one of the options out of GTKRadiant’s “Bsp”-menu.
The simplest option is “BSP -meta”.

can someone please help me?
i added all the files where u sed but it doesnt come up on my hostgame list, ive included a .arena in the scripts folder aswell!

Hostgame displays only campaigns if the gametype is ‘campaign mode’. Set the type to ‘single map’ mode and you 'd probably be able to select it that way.

Hey, i just started using radiant, and i have a problem… I cannot load my own self-made map if i want to start a hosted game. I think i must have an Arena file, but i dont understand what a arena file is and how to make it… i also dont have that file in ET main… :banghead: :banghead: please help i already have a .bsp file and i can convert it to a pk.3 but no wi dunno what to do!!! :beer:

An .arena file is not necessary to start your map using /devmap or /map.
But in case you were going to make one, here’s a picture from a tutorial, written by Ifurita:

ahem, if your just starting to make a map…well i cant help you on how to make one, but on how to test it…whne you’ve got your map all dont, or partially done…you need a couple things, 1: you need to make a .bsp file, to do so…click BSP on the right to selection, then click Q3Map2: (single) BSP -meta, that will make the .bsp…if it stops and gives you an error, that most likely means that theres a leak, a leak is when you havent closed your map off completely, so basicly you need to make sure your map is closed in, no open slots… 2: make your mapcoordsmins, and mapcoordsmaxs…someone will have to help you on that because i still get confused :angry:

seems that you dont need a bsp, you already have one? me no pay attention…

reading your interesting posts, I found this one referenced as “How to Create PK3 files” linked from the post “TUTORIALS AND ET MAPPING RESOURCES”…

I’m an {AR} Acid Rain Clan member (the same of {AR}KillerWhale, the creator of the WhaleClient) and we have a lot of members with experience about how to create mods, skins, etc. … Why am I telling you that? well, cause some of us dont use ZIP files for after rename to PK3… we use a pgm called PakScape, really, is very good, you can edit, create, modify all package files under Q3 engine (including PK3 files)… ah! it’s for only for Windows!

We have a special section in our forum, where you can download this program, read a little Tutorial about it use (in english) and a lot of info about “How to Create PK3 files, skin, weapons, etc.” … go to http://forums.rainhosting.com

I had same problem
I type
/sv_pure 0
/devmap mapname

some pk3 dont want to load, name of pk3 may be defferent of name Bsp in pk3, unzip pk3 into etmain, Bsp be in folder etmain/maps
then type
/sv_pure 0
/devmap mapname - must be name of Bsp

if you are trying to load a bsp file from within a pk3 file, you must use sv_pure 1, not 0… when sv_pure is 0 it searches the etmain/map directory for maps (bsp files) that are not in a pk3

I can’t find the “textures” folder in ETmain and also I can’t find the shader of my map…how can i create it (couse i need to put the shader and the textures ive used in my map in pk3 and i cant find them…)

just a little notice… it’s easier to use packskape then all the other stuff…to create pk3.

find the prog here:

save as and choose pk3. as filetype… :slight_smile:
